  1. Seal 54 EL issues

Good luck with the Seal 54EL. I had it for a month and sent it back with the same issues. A tech guy came out to try to "fix" it but no luck. I could never get a long run of laminate without any issues. I think the main problem is there is no tension bar with it. I ended up getting a...
  2. Packaging Signs

We use 30" x 40" cardboard sheets from Uline and trim to size for magnets so they lay flat. Decals are put in ziplock bags which I have 3 different sizes. For yard signs we use plastic stretch wrap and wrap them together. I also have custom boxes made which will hold 5 realtor frames 18" x...
  3. outstanding invoices

I also had a problem with a large A/R and having to chase money so I implemented payment in full before production begins. My larger corporate customers are still net 30 but everybody else is payment up front and it is working great. This is also helping with people approving artwork and...
  4. Versaworks help - Green Gradient on black only prints black

You could also export as a JPEG from illustrator. This would take care of any layer or transparency issues.
  5. Stock Image Subscriptions

I also love dollarphotoclub. I also purchased the 100 image plan and love it. Great image and vectors for $1 each
  6. Dull color issues on HP Scitex FB700

Reds are tough on the FB's using Onyx. If you need a deeper or richer red you will need to print MaxDPI. Slow as molasses but it gets the job done.
  7. Roland soljet 540 problems

You could flush the lines and go back to OEM inks. I did that after using aftermarket inks and have never looked back.
  8. Help choosing laminator

I have a Royal Sovereign RSC and love it. Easy to use and no problems whatsoever. I highly recommend it.
  9. best laminator on the market

I used to have a Seal 54El and ended up sending it back because of several issues. While I had it I do remember getting shocked a bunch. Was not a pleasant experience. Ended up getting a Royal Sovereign 1401 and love it. No issues at all or shocks. Tracks perfect and no waves or creases...
  10. Printing on "pop-up" or no curl material.

I do not use the take up reel when printing fellers pop up material. Let it run on the floor and have a piece of coroplast underneath it so dirt does not get on the back. Cut it and lay on table for a couple hours or overnight before trimming and assembling.
  11. Purchasing a new mid range flatbed

I have had my HP FB500 for 1 year now and am very happy with it. I've only been down 1/2 day for a minor issue which was quickly repaired by my awesome distributor GSG. I have not heard the same about Oce or CET's. Ink sticks great to everything. We do a lot of coro and it sticks well...
  12. Roland Disappointment XR-640

I've had my XC-540 for 7 years now and rarely have head strikes. I agree the take up has been a pain since year 2. I have had good luck with putting a small piece of 3mm pvc in the bracket where the knob has worn out. It keeps the bracket snug and does not move. It also keeps everything...
  13. Looking for real world experienced opinions of quality laminator

If you are picking between the entry level models I would go with the Royal Sovereign. The Seal 54 el does not have a tension bar which makes it a lot more difficult to laminate. The Royal Soverign has a tension bar which helps out a lot. I had a Seal 54 el and ended up sending back and...
  14. New flatbed advise

I have a HP FB500 and it prints great on coro. Inks stick great. Very easy to operate and very reliable. I've had mine for 10 months now and have only had 1 minor issue. Runs every day with no problems. With your budget I would check out the 700. Should be around $135k depending on options.
  15. Customer provided decal kits

I pass on this kind of work. Not worth the hassle. Not only do you have to worry about messing up their vinyl but also the customer who claims you scratched his paint job during the install. I'll let someone else have these problems.
  16. roland sp540v contour cutting problem.... so frustrated HELP PLEASE!!!

Get some 3 in 1 oil and clean and lubricate it.
  17. HP500 Aluminum profiles

for finishing I mean trimming down with a wall cutter or panel saw. I do not laminate but like to print higher quality so more ink gets put down.
  18. HP500 Aluminum profiles

That is one of the drawbacks of the FB500. Whenever we print aluminum or aluminum composite material we always to set it aside overnight before finishing. It is easy to scratch right off the press but give it a day and it is hard to scratch. We also print outdoor plus or indoor plus to give...
  19. Calling HP Scitex FB 500/700 users

I have had my FB500 for 4 months now and love it. Ink sticks well to coroplast. For aluminum or aluminum composite material they scratch easy after printing. If they can sit aside overnight they are done curing and hard to scratch. My only drawback is deep reds or coca cola red. Only way to...
