I love my grizzly shear. You can shear .080" on it but need to really put a lot of weight on the foot pedal. Sometimes two people stepping on each side helps.
I bought one earlier this year and while it work it did a great job. I ended up sending it back because of all the issues. From what i understand they developed the product in the US but sourced the banner welder in China. The people in China used inferior products to make it which resulted...
I just bought a Multicam 3000 and have had it for a month now. Love it. Took awhile to figure it out but it is great. Sales and service have been great.
Have you tried to restart your computer? We had this same issue yesterday and fixed it by restarting the computer. Also wouldn't hurt to turn printer off and on.
This is a known issue for the FB printing on aluminum composite. If it has to be scratch resistant I would overlaminate it. You can also get digital print receptive max metal from Grimco which I have found to be less scratch resistant. We also print Max DPI which helps lay down a lot of ink...
I have had my FB500 for 2 1/2 years and have not purchased the warranty. I've had one out of pocket expense to replace the shutter assembly. The printer has been very reliable.
I have a warehouse rack with 6 shelves by my flatbed. They fit 4' x 8' sheets. My uprights are 8' tall and the shelving brackets are 108" wide. Should be easy to find in your city from a warehouse rack supply company. I am running out of space and I have a couple of these to free up space.
Order from a different distributor. Last time I ordered the cleaning kit my usual distributor was out so I went with Grimco and got it in a couple of days.
I would first clean your encoder strip. If it doesn't solve it you may look at the encoder reader. I had this same issue a couple weeks ago and it ended up being the encoder reader.
I really like Colex and almost bought one. The only thing that held me back was no local service.
Multicam has a local repair facility close by. I ended up purchasing a Multicam 3000 with all the attachments and it will be delivered next week.
I have had ink fall off on coroplast before and attributed it to old coroplast. I have though seen some 4' x 4' signs flatbed printed on our HP FB500 six months ago with ink falling off.
I have had my HP FB500 for 2+ years and have been down only 2 times. We normally run it 5+ hours a day. Only issue I have is ink scratches easily on aluminum composite material.
I had a lemon flatbed Gerber Ion which had so many issues with it I demanded them take it back. I ended up documenting every issue and service call with it and sent a demand letter to the owner of the distributor where I bought it from. He went to bat for me with Gerber and got them to buy it...
Sorry for all of your troubles. Seems like a nightmare. I also have a 10 year old XC-540 and it is starting to show it's age. Looks like I will be switching over to latex instead of getting another Roland. I just hate having 2 machines for print/cut.
