  1. Need Help This banding has stumped me. s80600

What is the make and model of your printer. I would say you have a bad print head. Depending on your make and model will determine the expense to replace it.
  2. A good wall mural vinyl.

We are in California, most walls we test usually use low VOC paints. Many vinyls won't stay put. So before doing a wrap we always do a wall adhesion test, using a 3M wall adhesion test kit ($100 from Fellers or grimco) We will test 3M Ij35c, 3m ij39 (hi tac) and 3M ij180cv3. Then decide which...
  3. A good wall mural vinyl.

If that's eating your margins, you are not charging enough. Buy the right material and charge accordingly. Just my .02 cents. Lot's of options, but I think your already using a very affordable vinyl.
  4. Dance Floor Decal

Too much of a liability to entertain. Wedding, drinks, vinyl on the floor gets wet. Slip and fall. Who made these????? No thanks.
  5. One man shop growing pains

My first hire was a production, designer, installer employee. He did the basic design layout (he was a very decent designer and knew Adobe and Photoshop pretty well. He also knew the machines. He would do all the design, printing and sign making, with my help when I had time. I in the meantime...
  6. One man shop growing pains

I would jump all over that. How much are you losing working in the space you are currently at. It sounds nightmarish. Get yourself into the right space. If there aren't any available, then the one that is available is the right one for you. If you blink it could be gone, and before you...
  7. Wall primer

3M 8518 or 3M 8520 depending on if you need matte or gloss.
  8. How do you guys keep track of orders/jobs currently in your shop?

We use Corebridge for our estimating and reports, software, and use Trello for our WIP. Trello is a very easy platform to create a work flow pattern. We have it setup with a column for each employee and their area of expertise. For instance: Design, Waiting to Print, Process and Production...
  9. Question Digital marketing a sign shop with no money?

It is the cheapest and most effective $30k a year salesman. Wouldn't change a thing our business has gone from constantly looking and slum margins, to having the upper hand on the amount of work we have, and sifting out the low $ jobs. I reccomend it to anyone struggling that still has some...
  10. Need adhesive ideas for foam PVC

Just trying to help the guy with a suggestion. It's pvc - we weren't discussing best ever silicone or glue - but hey Johnny knows best.
  11. Need adhesive ideas for foam PVC

VHB Tape in the corners and a couple of pieces in middle depending on the sign size, then apply blobs of silicone when installing. The VHB tape will hold it in place, while the silicone sets up. Hope this helps.
  12. Is there a term for scaling an object proportionally to cover an old one but can't because of its unique shape?

What if you just added the same colored stroke until the image was covered?
  13. Need Help I was just curious about laminating non printed white vinyl

The only reason to laminate vinyl would be to change the sheen. Being you can bye gloss and matte vinyl, the only other option would be Satin. Perhaps they want Satin. Otherwise it is a waste of laminate. Not printed vinyl is not going to fade, or have a print rub off. So no need to laminate...
  14. Why Are There So Many HP Latex Printers For Sale?

Your right. I ask my HP Latex repairman which HP machine he thinks is best. He said the 360 is a workhorse. If maintained properly will run until they discontinue producing parts for it. I was quite happy with that answer. Thx.
  15. Why Are There So Many HP Latex Printers For Sale?

Talk to your repair man next time he does any kind of service or maintenance on your machine. They'll tell you which make and model they seem to repair least/most.
  16. Wall primer

Not enough to worry about. When we could get vinyl due to the shortages we used anything that said IJ180 on it. No problems. You might check cost or see if the manufacturer sheet says anything different, just in case. If it were us, we would use either.
  17. Wall primer

We have to think about every removal we do, before we wrap the wall. This is another reason I prefer IJ180cv3 to high tack vinyls. So far, all (even high tac) have peeled off pretty clean. There is a bit of top coat paint removed, but no heavy drywall damage. We have never experienced that...
  18. Photo megapixel help

Have him send you one. Put it in Photoshop, then go the image size tab. It should be at least 300 resolution to start, for a decent end product. Then select bicuber smoother (enlargement) from the drop down box, size the image to the size you are going to use. Then save. Now after saving...
  19. Can I achieve true flat matte with Latex 315?

Lam it with 8510, it will be matte. I am sure you'll get some sheen from an unlaminated print. Hope this helps.
