  1. Would you please express your opinion for pricing?

If you made 2 signs, and actually have $5 worth of paint on them you are doing something wrong. Perhaps you bought a can of paint that cost $5? Did that leave you with any left over? How many more can you paint with the remaining paint. That's how you're gonna be able to tell your actual overall...
  2. Cutting Substrates

This seems like a viable option for our shop: http://panelsawsrus.com/products/
  3. revised logo what ya think

The little lines at the bottom need to line up with the ends of the "I" and the leading edge of the "N" framing out the "G" a little tighter.
  4. Pdf or Eps

I use the .pdf only to rasterize it. Because in InDesign, you are combining raster and vector files as well as fonts. And since I'm at full size, when I open the .pdf in PhotoShop that's where I get the rasterization control. The actual size, the resolution, the color space etc. Because the .pdf...
  5. Pdf or Eps

I print most things at full size. I don't do the whole 1/10th thing. There are several reasons for that. But, mainly it's about lack of pixelation, no blotchy colors, smooth lines etc. But there is a sequence you have to use to when re-sampling the file size. The lowest I'll go at full size is...
  6. Pdf or Eps

No, the combo files get flattened in PhotoShop then saved as a tif. Sometimes if I'm feeling spunky, I'll save it as a PhotoShop .eps... but not really necessary at that point, .tif will embed color space too.
  7. Pdf or Eps

.eps is printer language (at least for Post Script printers) It embeds the color information, and I can send those anywhere and expect to get back what I am expecting to get. OK, I come from traditional printing background... Laser Image Setters and old school stand alone RIP systems. .pdf's...
  8. Signs, screen printing, AND copy shop?

Incidentally that's how I wandered into signs... when I realized that chasing pennies was a losing proposition. The amount of busy work that goes into having one of those in-house isn't worth it. However, the convenience of having a large laser printer for proofs, small runs of less than 250 to...
  9. Signs, screen printing, AND copy shop?

Your $59 will soon balloon into $500 - $600 a month. It's even more aggravating when the machine is down, because the corona wires are fried. Gonna need to get a new part from the manufacturer. Will only take about 4-5 days. Then we'll call you to set-up a time to have our techs come out and...
  10. Pdf or Eps

I prefer the output on my wide format printers in this order: .TIF | .EPS | .PDF | .PNG I don't like .jpeg
  11. Signs, screen printing, AND copy shop?

Here's something I ran through my Ricoh on Oracal 651 white. Then I laminated, and trimmed it. Just look at the detail you can do with toner based systems! That's why I'd love to get a KIP C7800. I took a bunch of their regular paper samples from the sign show a few years ago, and reverse...
  12. Signs, screen printing, AND copy shop?

RUN!!! I've had really bad luck with Konica-Minolta copiers. (40ppm is slow btw) Ask your sales rep about "cost per click" AND how much is the service agreement that they force upon you. AND does the service agreement include free toner and free delivery of the toner? Once you add up all...
  13. Matte Laminate Too Dull

You should be looking for a laminate called "Luster" finish. It's halfway between matte and gloss. I think it looks better for most stuff, without being too dull or too shiny.
  14. Best way to dry ink on vinyl fast?

Yard Sign? (Super temporary, minimal profit?) UV Printer. Dry instantly. No Film. No Lamination. Hand to Customer.
  15. Banner Jet Walk-Thru + UV Ink Conversion!

I don't know specifically if this particular RIP has allowances for white ink. However, I do know that TEC and a few other companies that offer white ink, are using the same or similar RIP. (I'll be loading the RIP this weekend if I get the ink in the mail today) But I don't think I'll be...
  16. I just launched a Kickstarter project.

I used to R/C fly all the time. That's actually how I got into Hot Wire Foam cutting... did the battle gliders for a bit too. I gotta say, I'm real temped to pull the trigger on your kit. But I'd need more incentive. It's been so long since I've been into R/C planes that I'd have to get a new...
  17. What would you do?

I can tell from here that your red isn't even 100%M + 100%Y Now his red might have about 10%K to it if I was going to pretend to match that, but your "Red" isn't Red. Unless you are matching a specific lighter/brighter or more "orangey" red, you should never send a red job to the printer that...
  18. I just launched a Kickstarter project.

You can sweeten the pot for potential backers. Say, if we reach our goal by say, the 15th, you'll include that airplane shrinky wrap skin stuff with every kit that gets pre-ordered. Then if that works, and once you reach your goal. Offer a stretch goal of say $10,000, then you'll include a motor...
  19. Printable Mesh Material for Grandstand wrapping?

Easy... that stuff is called Fence Screen. But it's usually screen printed. (If you want it to last) http://www.fencescreen.com/Products/700-Series-Closed-Mesh-Poly.aspx I did some for a high rise's tennis court. But found out that I had no choice but to outsource it. But install is so easy, I...
  20. UPS boycott

Oh goody... a bunch of whiney "Man Babies" threw a fit, and mommy came to their side with cookies and punch, and said everything is going to be OK, I'll talk with daddy when he gets home. Everything will be fine sweetie.
