  1. CJ 500 and FJ42 will they print the same

What the heck are you using a Roland printer to attempt to print Giclee prints for? If you are trying to print for the "artzy smartzy" photographer group, or trying to replicate fine artwork pieces then get the right equipment. You need to find a good used Epson printer 7600/9600 perhaps. They...
  2. Trouble cutting direct from Illustrator

I have used SignCutX2 for several years, and it is probably your best option. you can lease a license from the company for only $99.00 dollars for three years. I found it to be one of the best after market plotter programs out there to cut right out of Illustrator.
  3. Tracking goes off after 100in

cptcorn: The next thing that comes to mind, is the question " How old is your plotter?". It may be that over time the grit wheels that move the vinyl forward and back have become ever so slightly worn. Thus causing uneven pressure on the driveing parts? How clean are the grit rollers? Any build...
  4. Tracking goes off after 100in

First thing that comes to mind is to check to make sure that the plotter is set on a "Dead Level Surface". If the machine is not "Dead Level" the side load {even if it is only slight} will eventually cause tracking error. As a side note, "I wonder what "Dead" has to do with being "Level"...

  7. damper

I am no expert in this, but for the small investment involved to replace a {or any} damper in your BIG DOLLAR printer it seems prudent to me to change them ALL on a regular maintenance schedule. Much cheaper than damaging a print head.

How about helping the rest of us with what you found.
  9. Help!! Dotty/Grainy Prints Versacamm and Mactac 8300 pro

Calvinh: one of the things I have found to be critical in getting the best quality from any given print material, is to experiment with the heat settings. Especially the front [or after the print heads} heater. I keep mine set as "LOW" as possible to allow the ink to flow before setting. If you...
  10. older printers

That should tell you a LOT about whether to get into buying something that old.
  11. CJ-500 converted to eco solvent

Before doing this conversion, I had no prior eco solvent printer experience. And so when I heard people talking about heaters, i thought they where to raise the temperature of the substrate to some really high amount {150-175 degrees}. Now that I have done the conversion, I realize that you...
  12. CJ-500 converted to eco solvent

Bo: You remind me of my Grandson:doh: So MANY questions, so FEW answers.:thumb::thumb: Anyway, setting your heaters is a very EXACT SCIENCE:banghead:{yah Right} just experiment for YOUR application. It will vary depending on the material you are printing on I believe. Banner stock...
  13. CJ-500 converted to eco solvent

bovegas: Congratulations! I converted mine over also, using industrial heaters, with front and back heaters, on/off switch wired into internal wiring inside rear cabinet. looks better than factory, no external boxes or wiring hanging all over the place. I have found my settings for heat...
  14. CG160FX Cut Speed ?

I believe I was just reading in the setup book that when you are cutting large or long pieces the program locks you out of high speed cut mode. It relates to Mimaki not wanting you to be throwing large amounts of vinyl back and forth through the plotter while plotting. The Program has automatic...

  17. JV33-160 Problems

Have you tried lowering the temperature on your heaters a couple of degrees? this would allow your inks to flow a little more before setting. Just my stab at solving this.
  18. Lava Inks

Is anyone here familiar with this company? I am looking for JV33 parts, and wonder if you folks can give direction as to where to buy repair parts other than dealers. Any personal references regarding past experiences will be kept confident. Thank You in advance for ANY help.
  19. JV33-160 Printer

  20. Mimaki CG160 FX Cutter problems

Brett: Not familiar with the material you are referring to, and your comment "The blade also slightly scratches" However, sounds like you need to set the "down force" on the blade so that it applies a little more pressure. That would allow the blade to cut deeper into the material. Go easy as...
