  1. Mimaki JFX200-2513. buy or no buy?

It's just a good machine for people who are starting out in the flatbed world for the first time. Fairly easy to learn to use and maintain. Lower price point than most full sized flatbeds. You're giving up speed and automation. The higher end ones are much faster and some have auto loaders etc.
  2. Mutoh E186Err

Head heat errors occur when there is a short in the head signal circuit or if the room temperature is too high. It's usually a bad cable but if you've changed those, it's probably the head itself failing.
  3. Mimaki JFX200-2513. buy or no buy?

the Ex is faster because it has an extra head. The JFX series is a good entry level flatbed. As mentioned above, not the fastest flatbed out there but fast enough and at great quality for it's price point.
  4. VP-540i and Signlab

You probably just need a new cap top and make sure the waste tubes are free of clogs. It also looks like you could use a little clean up under the head. You just want to clean up any ink build up around the perimeter of the head surface so it can make a good seal with the cap top. Avoid the...
  5. 1204 possible head issue

The head is crooked. You need to go into service mode and run the head slant adjustment. It prints a set of black and magenta lines that you need to make line up using the lever on the right side of the head carriage.
  6. Do you laminate your plain vinyl lettering?

We have a large, laminated, sign facing south in Denver and two, unlaminated, banners that face south as well. We reprint the banners 2 or 3 times before needing to change out the larger sign.
  7. Transistors

That or find a used board you can scrap from. Ebay might be a good place to look.
  8. VP-540i and Signlab

Post a nozzle check. if you're only seeing it in light blues, the cyan head is probably missing some nozzles. Darker colors can hide missing nozzles a lot better than light colors.
  9. Banding on dx8 printhead

It's ink flow in my opinion. If it's not a damper issue, it's probably air getting in somewhere along the line. Any air in the lines?
  10. Mimaki CJV150 Cutting Advice

You can half cut with the normal cut strip. It just gets torn up a lot quicker than with regular use. The sponge strip is meant to last longer with the half cuts basically. You shouldn't have to manually adjust the blade either. Half cut simply kiss cuts the contour cut and cuts through the...
  11. Bordeaux ink sale for Mutoh, Mimaki, and Roland printers

The main issues have been with the 1204 and 1604 machines. Usually the black clogs over time, you flush it out, print for a little while and then it clogs again. That and some card reading issues. My Mutoh rep actually told me to just switch anyone who has issues over to 3rd party.
  12. Bordeaux ink sale for Mutoh, Mimaki, and Roland printers

If you've been wanting to try out a 3rd party option for your Mutoh, Mimaki, or Roland printer, now's a great time to try during our Bordeaux ink sale! Are you having issues with Mutoh's new ink on your older ValueJet? We've been moving our customers over to the Bordeaux inks and the issues...
  13. Banding on dx8 printhead

Looks like it's only happening on one side. I've run into this before with a DX5 head and it ended up being a partially clogged manifold. I flushed it and everything started working properly. It could be a bad damper as well.
  14. Mimaki CJV150 Overspray 'mist'

You probably just need some maintenance parts and a tune up. If it were me, if you haven't changed dampers, cap top, and wiper yet, change all of those out and see if it improves things. Dampers are pretty straight forward on that machine. they make you take that long front cover off to get to...
  15. Mimaki CJV150 Overspray 'mist'

The cross contamination between the cyan and magenta could be due to a failing cap top, damper, or pump. The fact that it goes away after a soft clean points more towards a bad damper or clogged pump tube. I'd change the dampers if they are older than 2 years and flush the pump tubes to make...
  16. High school graduating banners with pictures

Your file settings are for 300 dpi at 8 bit depth so even a file that size that is completely white would be around 315mb. No matter what you add to that file, it represents it at 300dpi even if the original image was only 72 dpi. You could significantly reduce file size if you go into the...
  17. Need Help UCJV 300 - Media Jam and Missing Nozzles

I'd start there just to make sure you're getting the best suction possible. If that fixes most of it but there are still some missing nozzles, remember there is a nozzle replacement function that allows you to replace that nozzle with one behind it. I believe it's up to 10 per channel but that...
  18. Need Help UCJV 300 - Media Jam and Missing Nozzles

I single head strike is usually recoverable but if the head slid across the vinyl back and forth for an entire print, that could definitely do damage to the nozzles. I'm also seeing cross contamination in the yellow which is a sign that either the cap top/pump isn't working 100% and/or the head...
  19. Suggestions Buying Mutoh 1624 Valuejet at auction?

They either got a great deal or ended up having to put a lot into it. In my experience, auction printers are almost always completely neglected and being auctioned by someone who inherited it / didn't know how to take care of it.
