I think I would be more inclined to outsource a white print job as opposed to cannibalizing a perfectly good machine.

Ball up newspapers, put them in a can, pour the ink over it & let it dry, free cheap way to get rid of it, the ink will dry in no time.

Put a couple of staples in, don't trust the tape, I have one of those deep throated staplers for this use, works great, no problems with any stands since I started doing that.
