Thanks everyone for the replies. Prowraps has the best idea....but still i'm thinking of spraying the latex with frogjuice and than applying the vinyl lettering. What are the odds of that working?
I quoted a vinyl job on a large tool truck for a construction company. It's a big, very old, ugly dude that they wanted lettered. Between the time that i came out and measured and the installation was about 3 weeks. In that time they used some "HOME DEPOT PAINT" to freshen up the appearance...
Last question! These guys have about 20 pieces of equipment that need the vinyl lettering replaced. All of them have marginal paint jobs at best. What is the best chemical to use for preparation? Prepsol? Alcohol? Sandblaster?! Just kidding.
Thanks Cross Signs! I'll apply a 4' pc of cheap vinyl on the corrugations and see what it measures out to. That solves it.
As for being a lousy job....yes but, if i price it correctly it will be fun!

I like the idea about the pressure washer. I'll check into the rental rates. The letters are about 17" tall by about 13' wide. I'm worried about the corrugations shortening the text. My buddy suggested i add 25% to the length. I thought that was excessive....except he's usually correct (i hate...
This is the first time I've ever cut and installed a trailer with the corrugated sides. Is there a formula on how much longer the cut vinyl should be? Those corrugations look like they will shorten the text. And how much longer would an installation like this take?
And...they used CALANDERED...
I sold my older jv3 late last year and bought the epson gs6000. I love the maintenance and print quality, but insignia is correct when he talks about babysitting the epson. Problems with feed and takeup are a constant concern. The mimaki was simple but effective. The epson is complex and...
I should mention the the reason i cancelled the print is that i made a mistake when i preflighted the file. It had nothing to do with the Epson itself. The action of cancelling the print caused the machine to glitch. Not the print itself.
Ok, picture this....it's Friday afternoon and the deadlines are piling up. I'm just starting to get to know my 3 month old gs6000 and becoming comfortable with it. I just started printing a small banner job and i noticed that there is a problem with the print so I hit the cancel button on the...
Yahoo has a great user group for the JV3. Go to yahhoo.com and click on groups. Enter Mimaki into the search and you will be able to sign up. There are hundreds of posts on this. Also be careful when switching out the cables. If there not done in the correct order you will fry the slider board...
We charge more than double for 2 sided banners. The materiel costs 3 times as much....and if something bad is going to happen during the print stage it will happen on the second side just before the banner finishes printing!:frustrated:
Rubber steel
Pm me if you want to try the rubber steel.I have about a 100 feet of it left from an old job. The material itself is just like magnetic materiel but without being magnetized. It has a very aggressive adhesive on the back so it will stick to any surface that vinyl will.
Decals
I have mimaki cutter and I use Finecut in Corel Draw. Whenever I do stickers I have to nudge the cut line over to the left .08 inches after I print and just before I cut. Once I started doing that everything lines up great....go figure!
JV3 problems
You may have swapped the cable positions for the print head. If so...the slider board may be a gonner.Mac Media repairs the slider boards for $200. They are on ebay.
