The single greatest time saver when using HDU is starting with a denser product. I know it doesn't help you now, but any surface we are painting is never less than a 30b density. We'll use 15 and 18 for the core, but always 30b on faces.
we really like the TSF 45 for priming surfaces. You won't be spraying that stuff though.
I have a customer that has great luck with high build automotive primer.
looks like my files do in Enroute when my resolution on the relief is way low. I usually run a finish pass around the letters that takes off an additional .01 to smooth things out.
this could be done with photoshop actions automating to a template. It would save a file that would load right into versa works ready to print.

the short answer is no. We used to machine it in our 1000 series multicam, but even it was a stretch. Now our new 3000 series, I think would run it without issue.
