When ever I run alumapanel through the laminator, after it has come out of the laminator, I take my Olfa knife and allow the blade to touch both sides of the aluminum at once along the side, and you get a nice blue spark...then I can handle it without fear of electrocution.

My printer is 8 years old and I was considering updating to a newer Mimaki. I print from Flexi, but hear that Mimakis run their own rip now. How does one convert the files and colour info across to the new platform? Can it be done or do you basically re work all the files?

What brand of foil? I notice that when I use certain Duracoat foils I can hear a sticking sound, but it never actually sticks to the head, although sometimes when opening the lid after a run the foil seems to rip a bit. Maybe the heat is too high on certain foils?

I think the word die cut would be used more often to describe the procedure to someone not in the business. Computer cut or vinyl cut lettering probably means squat to most end users.

I have been told Expo markers are the worse to use. Staedtler or Quatro work best...
