I don't recommend this for a sign shop, but I do have a friend who saves all his empties and also collects the empties from other local shops running the same printers and dumps the colors into the bulk cartridges (shake vigorously, lol) and runs those in his JV3 solvent printers for years now...

You don't want to deal with it sucking dry and getting ink in the lines every time it "runs out", so this is what you have to deal with as opposed to that. We don't like it much either, we have 2 and run the MCS (higher priced inks) in ours, and change out multiple carts daily with our volume...

You can clean the sensor also, that was normally the cause of this error when I had a Roland.

We have the s70675 and I think the metallic out of it sucks, never had a real use for it. When we bought our new printer we just went with a 60600 (dual cmyk).

You should be fine with a final print resolution around 75 dpi and not have "pixelation" issues if you can find a large image. 300 DPI isn't needed or even possible; that's just for fine text on things people are going to be reading up close. Photoshop's "Preserve Details 2.0" re-sampling...

Try: change the color mode, change the image dimensions slightly (you can always change them "back" later). I think one of those things fixed it for me recently. Even a reboot might clear your issue up.

Probably wouldn't hurt to run a strip of edge seal tape along the top of the "fine" side.

We usually cut those out. It might be possible to roll them down and leave them but that leaves the possibility for failure at a later date.

Looks like a materials problem to me. Some materials are just defective. You can have a roll that is printing good then after a bit it is unprintable. Put a different roll on and try again and post results.

I have had a similar issue getting them to install before, but I remember that you cannot have the firewire plugged into your computer during the installation. I had to uninstall and unplug the cable, then reinstall with it unplugged. After all install is complete you plug it in and it works...

The liquid lam process is cheaper. We don't do it here and have no interest in it, but we do install some that are supplied this way. It is also a bear to remove compared to regular vinyl/lam combos.
