  1. How to turn adhered gloss laminate into matte or satin?

Nope, you're gonna have to use a new piece and not as much heat this time. Some specialty vinyls wont tolerate the temp of a torch but a heat gun will work.
  2. Free Stuff For Y'all

Here is another (Grumman?) aluminum delivery truck template. 10% scale. Enjoy!
  3. Free Stuff For Y'all

I've always hated guessing at the dimensions for logos on hoods on the new Ford Transits, so I just went ahead and made this template so it wasn't an issue anymore. Enjoy!
  4. 5+ month wait on OKI Gritroller

Do any other printer share these same grit rollers? Possibly the Seiko is just using another manufacturer's parts for this printer and you could get it from them. (Like how most solvent printers run Epson heads)
  5. Need Help micro sprint wrap

Follow the instructions listed in this thread, if you don't have spare phototex, then substitute another non-stretchable material. https://signs101.com/threads/phototex-for-templates.119932/
  6. Paving dump truck printed vinyl failing

sorry, can't delete this post for some reason??? but, my original reply was incorrect so I deleted the text out.
  7. Need Help Reflective Chevron

I read that too, but I don't see any anywhere on their site. I think they're either saying that the pre-printed V98 panels or their own custom printed panels are "one piece", but no one that I know of offers reflective in wider than 48" panels. I know 3M and Oracal doesn't, I've asked the reps...
  8. Suggestions box trailer rivets/screws, paint or leave white

We usually paint them. The hardware store is close by so we just go grab a can of whatever is closest and hit the screws that need a color change. The attached image is a white trailer with a seamless color-change 1080 wrap and overlaid cut vinyl graphics. Painted the screws red/white/black...
  9. Ultrachrome Ink Durability/Longevity

The new Epson series printers have a whole new ink formulation, and are 3M MCS compatible for warranty. The previous generation(s) did have issues with the yellow/orange inks fading outdoors that are now taken care of. We had issues with S70670/S70675 fading when we used orange inks but we...
  10. Trade/Wholesale for Clear Cling

Am I Blog Troll??? I was trying to help the OP find someone who could produce what he is looking for, and I know you could UV or screen them.
  11. Trade/Wholesale for Clear Cling

You'll need someone who has a Gerber Edge printer to get these done the best way.
  12. Suggestions Golf cart wrapping

You're gonna have to charge hourly for these, and it'll be a lot longer than you expect them to be. They take as long as a car wrap... See how much the customer is comfortable with dis-assembling their selves to save them money with that part of the process. I too would also be very wary about...
  13. Punched vinyl issues

Oh yeah, it seems that I see it more and more lately, but we also use a lot more vinyl than we used to. Even 3M has issues with partially punched holes sometimes, we never use Oracal here. I'd assume that the blades(?) on the punches wear out eventually and need sharpened or replaced and that is...
  14. Need Help Reflective Chevron

No one makes a "one piece" chevron for the rear of apparatus. Most are laid down in individual strips, the left/right pieces V98 you're talking about is as close to "one piece" as it gets. We also print on 3M IJ680CR-10 (48" wide) for left/right pieces, but the grade of reflectivity is lesser...

  16. FD Font Help

Looking for the top font. Anyone?
  17. Printed 680 Reflectivity

No one "enforces" NFPA standards. Almost half the trucks we do are non-compliant; If they want the graphics that way, and the check clears, no problem. Digitally printed (solvent/latex) reflective striping "should" be able to be classified as compliant, as the side striping is not held to the...
  18. Been using this for a long long time...........................

I'd bet it is a different type of "vinyl" than usual, possibly a real cheap or specialty material that kind of melts as you use the zapper and then transfers a bit onto your wheel which then smears it on the surface.
  19. News HP Issued New Service Update with Flat Rate Pricing???

The technicians that came out to work on ours had never even worked on one before our shop, they were used to fixing other HP products but got assigned to fix our machine. And this was under warranty, I can't imagine who would be servicing out of warranty... Always fun when you know more than...
  20. Latex vs. eco solvent pros and cons???

The wasted material was a big issue for us as well as the warm-up and cool-down time. Constant head degradation is an issue when you never have to replace heads on a solvent printer (as long as you know what you're doing) and every part that broke on ours wasn't covered under warranty.
