Nope, you're gonna have to use a new piece and not as much heat this time. Some specialty vinyls wont tolerate the temp of a torch but a heat gun will work.

Do any other printer share these same grit rollers? Possibly the Seiko is just using another manufacturer's parts for this printer and you could get it from them. (Like how most solvent printers run Epson heads)

I'd bet it is a different type of "vinyl" than usual, possibly a real cheap or specialty material that kind of melts as you use the zapper and then transfers a bit onto your wheel which then smears it on the surface.

The technicians that came out to work on ours had never even worked on one before our shop, they were used to fixing other HP products but got assigned to fix our machine. And this was under warranty, I can't imagine who would be servicing out of warranty... Always fun when you know more than...

The wasted material was a big issue for us as well as the warm-up and cool-down time. Constant head degradation is an issue when you never have to replace heads on a solvent printer (as long as you know what you're doing) and every part that broke on ours wasn't covered under warranty.
