  1. PVC free print film for laser cutting?

I know some people do this- if your air flow is great it is probably not a big deal. The chlorine produced will corrode the lens and mirrors. I have a large bed and it is hard to get a good airflow. Gene
  2. Need Help CorelDraw 2018 to Chinese Laser

There is a new software called Lightburn which was developed [and is still being developed] in the US that is much easier than RDworks- less than $100 but if you are using the laser to make money it is worth a trial.
  3. PVC free print film for laser cutting?

It turns out that Orajet actually makes 30" PVC free media and laminate. I had my delightful Grimco rep order it and it will be shipped direct. About $700 for both. T This is a sample printed on PVC free media, applied to acrylic, cut on the laser and then a .060 styrene template cut. Making...
  4. Template for Mounting A Bunch of Laser Cut Letters

Ian has the ticket- this is a sample printed on PVC free media, applied to acrylic, cut on the laser and then a .060 styrene template cut. Making the ACM backplate and rounding corners and drilling for standoffs took the most time. The 'P' and 'h' indicate where a line of text gets installed. Gene
  5. Rant Some Customers......

Most customers do not realize what you are doing for them, assuming the risk on the cost of the sign if you screw it up, making a design that will actually work for whatever purpose they need, ordering, paying for the shipping, etc. We have a new team member who is really good at this business...
  6. PVC free print film for laser cutting?

I have had a sample of Oracal pvc free film and laminate for a while and just did an acrylic cutout logo and lettering after I applied the print to the acrylic- then cut a thin styrene template for placement on the brushed ACM backing panel. It was easy, efficient and looks nice. I would like to...

  9. Roland Versaworks Question

Is either sequential cutting or look ahead fixed in VW Dual or VW 6? Thanks Gene
  10. Anybody have a SOLJET EJ-640 and have a review?

We are looking at new Rolands and it appears that this EJ-640 has the same head [two of them] as our RF-640, which we have had great luck with and love, and it is full solvent ink. Any other comments please. Thanks Gene
  11. For those of you outside of Texas...

That would make you a Ted Cruz fan? I like these signs better than his.
  12. Laser engraving question

Steve- we have a forum for old challenged RDworks users. RDworkslab.com if you are interested. Also see Russ' video [115 I think] for a deep dive into engraving. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCqCyShJXqnElPTUnxX0mD5A
  13. SummaAmerica - SummaUSA - Airmark

Your best bet would be to call Airmark- they will be able to help you.
  14. Versaworks 6

Perhaps VanderJ could help us understand which machines work with V6 and Dual- I have looked on the Roland site and it is not clear at all.
  15. Versaworks 6

It appears that 6 is a free update to Dual... wasn't Dual a free update to VW 5? I kinda thought 6 was replacing Dual [and VW 5]? I tend to hang back a couple months before doing updates, let some of Ya'll sort out the inevitable problems, ya know.

  17. Need Help Anybody know a good cut vinyl wholesaler?

Good to see ya Doug- if you have a printer locally, do they cut their printed vinyl? I am retired but any color that is not worth stocking is printed and then cut. That is 80% of the work these days. Gene
  18. SummaAmerica - SummaUSA - Airmark

I bought my first Summa T750 23 years ago from a local dealer and another one about 5 years later from SummaUSA [I think?] which is now Airmark. These people have always been more than helpful with the very few problems I have had with these machines and we used the hell out of them, and still...
  19. Question What type of material to Create Helicopter (or Aviation) N numbers?

Sub or Hypersonic? We are a mile from a releaver airfield and do many with premium vinyl. Only one old army trainer has crashed so far.
  20. Hand Carved & Gold Leafed

Nice job Neato- we have an old phart [he is actually younger than I am] that carves wood signs with a hand held router. He saw someone doing it at our State fair doing in a booth and has wanted to do it for decades, started practicing and he is pretty good at it for casual signage. He draws out...
