  1. A rat in my own maze?

Out the door, down to the corner store, through the door, hang a right at the last aisle, open the cooler and grab a cold Pepsi...yep...I feel like a rat in my own maze. Nothing major...just one a day, but it's now time to lay that habit to rest. Tomorrow, I'm not going to run the rat race...
  2. convert cnc file to cuttable file??

Make sure the each of the vectored elements has color fill. Import the file into Flexi. Delete the outline. Apply a new outline while in Flexi, then eliminate the color fill. I used to have major troubles with .dwg and .dxf files in SignLab until I tried this trick. Works awesome. JB
  3. Some of you are probably sick of seeing this design by now...

When I was a child, I had a septuagenarian babysitter named Stella. This conflicts with my mindset of how I think a "Stella" should look. JB

Everything seems to be working fine now. Thanks for the help. JB
  5. What did I do? Illy CS5 Stumper

Uh oh...my character pallet is missing the last four boxes...now what? >>Show options....ah, yes...there it is. Looks normal. JB
  6. What did I do? Illy CS5 Stumper

I went to create a single line of text with the type tool, and for a brief second, I saw some kind of icon briefly appear after clicking on the tool bar. I must have accidently clicked on something else, that's for sure. I didn't think much of it, but when I started typing, my text looks as...
  7. bad customer

Typically, you should keep the deposit (which should be equal to, or greater than your material cost). Deposit?...yes, the deposit. JB
  8. Check this out...

I have a fond affection for the Kauffman Foundation (for entrepreneurs). They have some excellent programs for young and old entrepreneurs alike. I was browsing their site today and found this organization started by a young teacher concerned about students at risk. http://wishbone.org/...
  9. logo critique

I'm seeing a robot's right hand...fingers and thumb clasped here. JB
  10. logo critique

Not knocking your design, but your customer should really re-think their name. Yeah, it's trendy, but they've set themselves up for a lifetime of "spelling and explaining" their name to vendors, customers and the like. Do you s'pose this might be a constant challenge for auto correct...or...
  11. Psychological Challenges of Business Ownership

That was one of my first goals...however the main person I wanted to keep in contact with was always "too busy" to discuss business strategies or new ideas...and , sadly, has since closed his store and let the building default back to the landlord. I had tried to warn him of the new...
  12. Psychological Challenges of Business Ownership

No problem with that. It's just that I miss the intellectual "sparring" that helps produce new ideas. As mentioned, I'm a voracious learner...and reader so I'm never at a loss for content. I did take some time off yesterday to tinker in the shop. I expanded my book shelves in the office...
  13. Fastest cut & weed

    Anchor 116 / 117 weeds extremely easy if it's cut deep enough. Harco 310 is a little tricky for 1/2 inch letters...especially "M" & "N". JB
  14. Psychological Challenges of Business Ownership

As mentioned earlier, it gets especially lonely if you're a one-man (or one-gal) show. I'm thankful for this forum and to all the great people who make it a fun place to be. JB
  15. Fastest cut & weed

I use mostly monument sandblast stencil, so I really don't really don't know the capabilities of some vinyl. The cheap vinyl I do use (for light etching) doesn't stay stuck that hard to the backer. JB
  16. Fastest cut & weed

http://www.theplotterdoctor.com/sales-product/vinyl-plotters-cutters.html I did notice that he took off a capital "K"...and the dot of an "i"...but otherwise impressive. JB
  17. Multiple copies of a PDF on one page?

    Indesign? JB
  18. Psychological Challenges of Business Ownership

Well, it's year number six for our business and I'm finally getting into the "psychological" challenges of being in business for myself. Now that the adrenaline has faded away, I'm noticing some "self-inflicted" casualties that have slowly crept in. I need to get rid of them before they...
  19. Converting some text

Suitcase Fusion is an awesome font manager with full backup capabilities using the "font vault". It only takes about 15 minutes or less to get back up and running. JB
