  1. Cutting A Decorative Alupanel Sign

in the future, if you are using the same method and one side cuts well, I would suggest you continue along the same cutting path and not start from the opposite side to do the mirror image of the template. see how that works for you.
  2. Brass plaque

why does it have to be real brass ? why can't you carve it out of 30# HDU or other high density material and paint it ?? here are some I made a few years ago - they are cast acrylic and "hand painted" with brass accents.

  5. Anyone put grommets in Acrylic signs?

I was thinking it would be a two sided sign: one side would say OPEN - Please come in and of course the other side would have the clock. this is where the Post Screw would work best as both sides of the connector would be almost flush flat. I use them quite often in different lengths for leather...
  6. Anyone put grommets in Acrylic signs?

I would consider a Post Screw (also called Binder or Chicago Screw). a drop of Thread Lock will keep the two together. I have used Rivets Online several times with great service. [no tools required - other than a drill press to drill the required holes]. Please post some photos of your prototype...
  7. Question Applying Vinyl to PVC letters

I have found that sanding PVC sheet with a palm sander will greatly increase the primer and paint adhering to the PVC. (320 grit sandpaper). there are primers formulated for plastic - strongly suggest a good primer and any 30 year acrylic or latex house paint from a reputable "paint store" (not...

I guess I'm the odd ball out. in South Georgia, in a really small town, it was a more relaxed pace of life. 12. Layering ACM for 3D look

I guess I never graduated from "Old School" and still do everything by hand. if this were my project, I would cut the ribbon from 1/4" PVC, engrave it, and heat-bend it to shape with a heat gun. South Florida has no fear of the freeze/thaw syndrome. Welly - the search term you are looking for is...
  13. HandCrafted HDU sign

thanks MJ - oh yeah, I forgot the size . . . . 40" tall, 33" wide and 3/4" thick with a 3/4" skirt to give it the illusion of 1.5" thick. the applied raised graphics and ribbon give it more "bulk". this is only a prototype to rekindle my skills and enthusiasm in the craft. 14. HandCrafted HDU sign

thanks for all the flowers !! 16. Question have you seen this sign ??

having been in contact with Jasper Plastics, I am trying to understand what happened here. I have made "patterns" before out of HDU to be reproduced by the hundreds in the molding process. it is expensive for the startup: the molder must fabricate a box for the sign, pour the rubber compound...
