  1. Caldera RIP - Recommended Hardware to run it?

Linux vs MacMini The current Caldera Linux installation is a custom version of Debian. You really have to be running their installation to get Caldera to install. The problem is that their current Debian version is somewhat old and doesn't recognize some of the newer feature of today's...

Banding You have some major banding issues my friend. Can you please post a photo of your nozzle test (Press the Print Test button). Are you performing regular maintenance on your printer (manual cleaning, change wipers, etc.)? ~E
  3. Roland Versacamm Sp 300 printing problems Need help!!

Advise 1. DO NOT clean your linear scale/strip with cleaning solution. It's a sure way to destroy it and the reader. DO Isopropyl 70% only. 2. If the problem temporarily goes away, but quickly comes back then you should look at the linear encoder sensor too. It could be dirty, or may be...
  4. My new daytime job

No Snow. Too much sun. My photo from today... that's Palm Beach, Aruba. I'll worry about the snow back in Massachusetts on Wednesday. Be safe everyone. Now back to drinking. ~E
  5. Sp300 v print problem

Cut Carriage Cable It's the cut carriage cable. I find that the typical life span is about 2 yrs on the SP-300(v) series. The lifespan can be much shorter if the cable guides stick in the upper track causing the cable to "folds over" on itself. (Last year I replaced 20+ on SP units) The cut...
  6. Roland SP-300 Used Printer Setup For Newbie

Advise I'm sorry to hear about your issue. Caveat Emptor... especially with a used inkjet printer. You didn't see it operate?? Anyway... sounds like the printer may not have been properly prepared for shipping. If the machine has been sitting for awhile, you may have head problems too. The...
  7. Color problem

Lt. Cyan vs Cyan If you are saying that it only prints lighter now, then you may have an ink contamination issue. Perhaps lt cyan in place of cyan. Can you print & post a nozzle test? You did not mention which ink brand you use... or if you use cartridges vs. bulk ink system. If you use a...
  8. Ordered Caldera Today

Also LOVE Caldera here... in an all Roland environment. Fast. Accurate. It tears through PDFs-- loaded with transparencies -- like crazy. The EasyMedia color profiling is awesome and in fact....Easy. You'll really love it when you have to match a swatch. Personally, I think the interface can...

  10. Blue Creeping - VP540i - HELP

Just as I suspected, your cyan vertical adjustment is off one half row. It's pretty clear. Stop messing with the linear encoder strip. You simply need a small vertical adjustment to your cyan head. Otherwise it looks good. -E
  11. Automatic cleaning stuck in a loop - please help

Battery Remove the battery and try it again. -E
  12. Blue Creeping - VP540i - HELP

Head Alignment Needed I think that you may need a head adjustment. The Vertical adjustment on your Cyan head looks like it may be off quite a bit. You can't know for sure without running a Bias/Vertical head alignment print test, but I'm thinking that's what it is. That's a minor service...
  13. Ink some how drain in waste bottle daily?!!

Check Level My guess is that the machine is not level... did you move it? Put a level on platen and shim the wheels so the printer is level. The cartridges should not be higher than the caps in that machine. ~E

  15. EdgeFx in Classifieds -- Price Reduced

Hello, I apologize for the post, but I just wanted to note to the Gerber users that I am reducing the price of the EdgeFX that I have listed in the classifieds to $3,995 to get it moved. As noted, it comes with more than $2k of OEM GerberColor foils. I will ship it or you can pick it up. I...
  16. printing not lined up.

Timing Issue Gino is correct. It's not a linear encoder problem... It's a dating/timing issue. Turn off the printer. Unplug from the wall. Wait 30 secs, reconnect power and turn on again. Problem solved. It's amazing how many silly problems can be solved by totally powering down the machine. ~E
  17. SP540V alignment / stair stepping problem? photos attached

Is the linear encoder sensor "riding" on one side of the scale, as opposed to straddling it? You can adjust the position... there's a single set screw. ~E
  18. Connecting Graphtec Cutter to Mac Cutting Master2

GP-GL vs. HP-GL The FC7000 series does not have auto sensing for the command language, so you will need to set it to GP-GL (vs. HP-GL) for use with Cutting Master. Go into the Initial Settings menu (before you load media)... you should see a Command option. Here you can choose GP-GL. You can...
  19. VP 540 With RIPC

Yes. VersaWorks profiles for the VP-540 & 540i (with RIPC) still support W+PASS... depends on the profile of course. ~E
  20. head strike

Pinchwheel Sensor More specifically it's the pinchwheel sensor... part alone should cost you approximately $26 (if it's damaged). Roland has these in stock in Irvine. Your dealer/tech should be able to help you take care of this minor repair. ~E
