You can download the spot color library for VersaWorks and match the colors to the VW spots colors. Replace those colors in your design software and then print from VW. It should match. You should print the spot library on the media you are using so there isn't a media variable involved.
Hi, I'm not sure if you ever got a RollsRoller or if you still have an interest, but if you do let me know. We are a dealer on the West Coast. You can contact Sean McCann
800-752-0028. It's a very impressive machine.
If you are still interested in a table applicator let me know. We have a couple RollsRollers available for viewing at the shop here in Portland.
You can contact Sean McCann at 503-232-8535
Make sure if your playing with the cables you unplug the machine. I have had so many clients who thought they were doing the right thing forget to unplug and blow out boards.
If you haven't touched the cables at all and this started happening then my guess is a head.
If you are having printing issues on the left and not the right, as in "blurry" print on one side and "crisp" print on the other then my best guess is your linear encoder strip is dirty.
Use alcohol that is NOT Denatured. That can cause fogging of the strip.
I thought this might spark some talk as well.

You don't need dampers. Those are a pain to put in and it's not needed I don't think based on your test print. I would replace the captops thought and the wipers and scraper. Start there.. that's the least expensive first step.
The RollsRoller is amazing. Since I'm a supplier and not a sign maker I don't get the opportunity to use laminators or apply graphics as often as sign makers like yourselves, however when I do have projects like creating samples or promotional items etc I use the RollsRoller. I applied both...
Go to the manufacturers web page and see if they have profiles for the media you are using. It sounds like a profile issue to me. If they don't have a profile then you may be able to use one from another manufacturer like Oracal.
What profile are you using? Have you done several prints and then this happened or is this your first print? How clean are the heads? Do you have a fan blowing on the printer from somewhere in the room, i.e. an AC unit or heater? Do you have any static issues?
I once had a fellow wanting to send me a "Trial Timed Licensed Copy of Wodows 7 Ultimate" for $20. If I chose to keep the copy then for an additional $120 I could receive the activation code.
With my junk email account, I wrote back and said, "Sure! I'll take one copy!" I gave him the mailing...
I'm betting that if you park the print carriage to the far left and use a dental mirror and a flashlight, you'll find scratches or scuffing on the black head.
Some printers have a hard time reading the registration marks if the lam you are using is high gloss. One of the tricks we have heard about is placing a piece of matte transparent tape over the marks. It may help the optic eye read them better by reducing the glare.
When cutting, there is an percentage of accuracy that decreases as the length of the job increases. Kinda like laying floor tiles... if you are off by a 16th on two tiles when you start, then when you reach the other side of the room, you may be 1/2 inch off. It's a similar idea with cutting...
I am posting a link to a video demonstration for replacing the s-cap or cap-top on the Soljet PRO 3. The procedure is pretty much the same on the other printers excluding the BN or VS printers.
Hope this helps some of you out there...
Which Roland Printer do you own?
on the left side of most Roland printers there is a white lever that you can manually lift or lower to adjust head height. If it is set to high you will have issues printing on vinyl. The high adjustment is meant for banners and thicker material.
Try that.
