  1. Window Perf caused window to crack

This is the part that I thought may be more the cause than the outer image of the perf. Just the thought of the reflecting film, doing what it is supposed to do, reflect the sun back out and then the perf having black as the backing color absorb that heat. Just noticed last week that a bank...
  2. Window Perf caused window to crack

Great minds think alike..... sorry you are linked with mine.
  3. Window Perf caused window to crack

Does the window get direct sun? What sort of graphic is printed, lots of dark or black area? Any chance that with the reflective on the inside and window perf having a black backing created a lot more heat inside the panes due to the refecting back onto the black side of the perf?
  4. How do you manage an employee who knows more than you?

Never thought I would post on this topic again but... Holysteel, you have had some useful feedback on your original post and I still say if you have an employee to learn from, do so, but treat them well and try to keep them. If you are wondering your employee would ever do what happened...

Looks good Doug, is this a new toy since I was there in Jan. Just can't recall a CNC but then again lots of things are a blurr.
  6. anyone wanna try to open this customer supplied file

I hate to say it but, a few years ago I would have been one of those guys that sent a jpeg saved as an eps thinking that should work...... and that was easy...... can't see what the big deal is all about. Now its different on the other side of the fence but I try to let customers know why Some...
  7. How do you manage an employee who knows more than you?

Just quit bringing your kid to work.. and if thats not the case be thankful you found this person. Lots of work places have employees that can do their job better than the owner. This would be a great chance to further your skills and learn from this guy. When a person knows he is...
  8. Contour Cutting Help/suggestions

You might get slammed here with this one as it has been covered many times but... Cut lines need to be a stroke that tells the printer that when it sees that spot color on a stroke it does not print it but cuts instead. How you get that stroke created is what you need to be able to do. Then...
  9. What are people thinking…………. ??

I could lend you my CJ 500 if it would help speed things up. By the way, you just made me feel better about when my customers leaving things till the last min and then wanting them in a couple days. Now if I only had a picture to post.......
  10. Weird Print

  12. Have yet to figure it out ~!@#$%^&*(

I ran a huge amount of poster paper (gloss photo paper) from Big Fish and had one minor issue early on. I for the first time switched to Rolands Eco Sol Max inks for my converted CJ. I have always run 3rd party inks and made my own profiles. I thought that with the switch all the profile thing...
  13. Have yet to figure it out ~!@#$%^&*(

Is this a new roll of media that you are just trying? What was still wet, like a black text area or printed image, or was the whole thing wet? If a new roll make sure it was not mixed up with a non printable media. There are some media that won't take solvent.
  14. Do you 'tag' your signs?

This was what tends to happen on banner stuff. Also with the staff turnover now days, a person you had made a banner for last year is no longer there and the guy who is in charge now sees the old banner but won't know who did it but if its on the back there is a good chance you get the call...
  15. Do you 'tag' your signs?

On banners on a back corner, I put my logo as well as another decal with info on how to store a banner (roll - do not fold). Also on which way to roll a banner up as with printed its no issue but for vinyl lettering makes a difference with lettering being on the outside. Also if running rope...
  16. diagnostic help needed

You have done well to recover the other colors but the black may be a bit more clogged. If you search head soak you may find what you need to do. Basic things that can happen. Head and get dried ink blocking nozzles (blank areas) and some just blocked enough to deflect the ink spray...
  17. Has anyone ever had feed encoder probs?

I am trying to locate a feed encoder (not sure the propper name) on the older CJ 500 model. Where was yours and what did it look like? Was it a round shape? Thanks for the input.
  18. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

BINGO that would be an issue and if it was on the yellow you may have found your problem. Try to reset the line onto the damper in case it was loose or cross threaded or the oring is bad or just that damper is bad. Good catch wedo
  19. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

Following your post here and some times similar issues happen on other brands of printers. How full is the yellow cart or did you by any chance just replace it? Also does your printer have a separate cap top for each color. I was looking at a capping station photo of the Mutoh and it looks...
  20. CRAZY banding out of nowhere...

Right when the banding starts, if you stop the print and do a nozzle test print what do you get?
