Here is my take on this.
If its like the CJ 500:
When you set up as piece the printer looks for the size by moving the vinyl forward or back until the censor is covered. Then it starts the other way until the other censor is covered and then has the length of the piece. The width is...
No the printer does not know what head rank you should enter so it won't alert you.
I think what the head rank does is to fire the heads at the setting that works best for that head. Not 100% sure but might be a voltage to fire each jet the right amout. If you have an incorrect head rank the...
Sorry a bit late seeing this.
If its anything like the old Rolands you should be able to just remove the pump lines from the captops and let it think its pumping out the line.
So you might have to have things powered off to unhook the pump line but after that power on and let it finish what...
I dug around for a bit and found a sample I printed on of a high grade diamond reflective. Can't say what brand it was as it was a scrap I had.
I print with an old Roland and ecosol inks and the stuff printed great. Not a pile of heat needed to get a good print. I have also done several...
Merritt did a huge 100 and some inch by even bigger backlit (banner style media(flex face?)) for me and it came out great. Not sure if they can do the same on an adheasive translucent.
If when you do a reg. cleaning and as the heads move off the captops, is it pooling in the captop and then slowly drains? What might be happening is that the head is flooded with ink on the bottom and then when it wipes the wiper is so full it sprays the inks off as it flips back from wiping...
There is a chance that is related to the pump motor and the wiper. From time to time you can get a build up of ink around the wiper blade and down which can cause the wiper to stick and not move. Or the gears for the pump are catching somewhere and not turning. If you have the front open to...
The only way you might get that to work for an 8 1/2 x 11 desktop is to use waterbased media. I would think your desktop would most likely be waterbased and not a laser or solvent.
There are waterbased media that may work, not sure if you cut them down to fit the desktop, that they would not...
I just got some of Bigfish's fabric banner, double sided 54" x 100.
It almost has a soft suede feel if I was to try to describe it. Found out it prints on the waterbase printer quite good also but is listed as eco solvent.
Hems good with hem tape.
I would think its cheaper than canvas...
Most times with a new print head you need to draw ink into it manually. If you can hook a syringe up to the line that runs to that captop or just hook the syringe with a bit of tube to that spot and draw ink into the heads. From there you may need to do several reg cleanings to charge the head...
Ok.... But it will take a while... how long should I hold it out there?
I will try to print off a couple samples of the same file on both the solvent and waterbased and strap them to the fence. See what gives in a few months.
Just a quick note that may help others with waterbased printers.
Bigfish has a double sided fabric banner that I got for my solvent printer I wanted to try 54" x 99'. Worked on solvent just fine but...
Tried it on the old FJ 42 waterbased and the stuff seems to print like a charm. I wet it...
You are right that if this way works and the color is still within the customers desires then it will be less steps. But there are times when that method may not work and thus the reason for a second layer.
That could be an issue. I guess if a person did a test and measured it you could adj the print in the feed direction by a small % amount. From there record that info and use when dealing with the same media.
I have been wanting to try this but just have not have the time but....
If you were to print on clear film with reg. marks then remove the clear, let off gas, then mount your translucent media onto the clear and leave the reg. marks open. If you can lay the translucent on top ok without a...
The good thing about this method is that what you see in the day on the front is a normal printed image (mostly correct color). Then at night your image looks better with the layer behind.
If you double print or add a heavier layer of ink (to your front image) your image changes in color due...
I am trying out the demo.
Had hoped that it would have that motion blurred image fix tool that they were working on...... no luck. I can see it in there, must not have made the cut.
Cutting is easy..... getting it to cut where you want it to is the hard part.
If you are talking about setting up files to cut around jpeg's or images that are not vectors, that is the area that Flexi can help. Basic lettering is click and print and cut but when you want to create a cut line...
