  1. Help identify this number (head rank)

Some of the numbers you can't change. You will automatically be jumped to the next one. I might think it might have been an attempt at a "9".
  2. I1 Extreme users and (I share)

Sorry, my main point was I did not know this was available til now. I have it installed and have used it just fine. What I was just posting about was what other things might be out there that are helpful to use with the I1 that did not come with the original software. There was not a lot of help...
  3. I1 Extreme users and (I share)

Has anyone else tried the "I share" for the I1 Extreme? I just found out about it when I asked how to read a color from a paint chip, printed sample etc. I didn't know if you could or not until I called them and they told me about the I share free download. It gives the pantone color of whatever...
  4. Latex ink for your Roland, Mutoh, Mimaki

You might just have to make up some heat plates and you'll have a $20,000 printer again. If it can print on media that solvent can not, or even as good as solvent it would be worth a try as long as the $$ are similar for the ink.
  5. Latex ink for your Roland, Mutoh, Mimaki

Thanks Robert, this has my interest. You said printers with heat. Do you know if these waterbased inks will need the heat plates? Tried to look on the link but I could not find about heat needed. I assume regular media as well and not needing coated like the regular waterbased printers...
  6. Roland Fj-52 ink to use?

I have mine set up with the LC and LM. I have never tried the green/orange. One reason I stay as I do is the I1 Extream that I use for making profiles won't do a orange/green profile. I do a lot of art stuff with canvas etc. and I find the LC/LM works fine. I also use cavepaint inks so the...
  7. How to print to the edge

Yes the reflective tape shows the printer where there is no media. If you cover just the reflective strip you can trick the printer into thinking there is media there. Once you set up the width you can release the rollers and even move the media and the printer still thinks the media was in the...
  8. How to print to the edge

I kind of think that the FJ 50 might only be able to go 52" max. I have a FJ 42 and it's max is 42". I know if you just let the printer read the media width it will be short on either edge about a 1/2". If you add a bit of tape to the reflective strip the printer will read your media as a bit...
  9. encoder strip fj40

I had asked in the past about the strips being the same for all the Roland units and did not get sure answer. If you ask Roland they say they must be for the correct printer. The price I got for a FJ 42 was $400 plus. I am tempted to to try a longer one and cut it down and see if it works. They...
  10. Roland Fj-52 printhead ?

Check down the left side (as if installed) for numbers that are written in black marker (on the black plastic). It is hard to see unless you have light reflect off the marker. You would think they could find a white marker or something better but they write it with a black marker. If you...
  11. Printing B&W images

Does your rip not have an area to change the CMYK to Grayscale?
  12. Non Scratch Media for Popups

I have done my own test (printing from a converted CJ 500) where I printed on a media with no heat and then with the standard heat. Both looked fine but the one printed without heat did scratch. The one with heat resisted the scratching much better. If the profile adjusts the heat settings...
  13. Roland Fj-52 too much ink in Pump Bottle..

If one line was off the damper it might have let enough air into the print head to cause a drain on the other colors. I know in the past when I had taken a damper off the print head and moved the heads off the capping station that the heads would drip. I am not sure how much they would have...
  14. Roland Fj-52 too much ink in Pump Bottle..

Did you do a pump up by any chance after to get the dampers filled? A pump up runs for a timed period and will waste a pile of ink.
  15. Print head cleaning question.

Check the drain lines for blockage. Also check that the capping station does not have something on the rubber lip that is causing it not to seal. If you can use a syring and attach a tube to the capping station and draw ink into the syringe your seal is ok. If you hear air, and not get much...
  16. Roland fj-52 inkline problem

First one thing I wonder about. Does it matter if there is an air bubble in the main line? As it draws into the dampers there is air in the top half of them anyway. Does the air bubble stop the ink flow? I can't see how it would but if the air bubble is caused by a crack then that might hinder...
  17. Roland Fj-52 printhead ?

Just make sure to write those numbers down and once installed don't forget to change the head rank numbers in the printer menu. Also all the alignment issues that go with a head change.
  18. Problems working with illustrator!!!!

Not sure if this will help much but: If you use the direct select tool (the arrow not filled in, just an outline) you can just click on the exact piece you want to select. Then if you hold shift and click another part it will add to your selection and so on. This way you can click on parts to...
  19. Where to get Indoor window perf material?

This is one brand you could look for. http://www.clearfocus.com/products/perforated_vinyl_uncoated/postervue.php They also have the clear perf that you need a printer that prints white in order to use. This goes on the inside (sticks to inside glass). The other is poster view which hangs or...
