  1. banner against posts

Can you take a grommet press out to the site so you don't have to measure every post bang on. Or measure out every post or every other post and on the banner place 2 grommets at each post about 2-3 inches appart for each post, and then use a zip tie through the two grommets and around the post...
  2. Mutoh Jr. issues

I may not be totally right here but I think you can have a black color printed by using the colors mixed from the color head so you might not be getting that black color printed from the black head where as the crop marks might be 100% black from the black head. If you put in a new black head...
  3. CJ-500 converted - Big thanks to sfr hockey table

Not 100% sure but I think the FJ 540 and SC 540 both use the same DX4 print head. The hard part is getting a waterbased head clear of the waterbased fluid and ink so that the solvent does not gel and plug up the head. This is why a new head is needed most times. Our printers that are talked...
  4. Had grain issues/re setup printer now ok

Not sure if this should have been in the Roland section or color management. I have a CJ 500 converted to solvent and working fine and also a FJ 42 still waterbased which I have always had some issue with the prints being grainy and not as nice as the CJ printed. Even at the photo mode it was...
  5. Problem with Mutoh Jr.

I don't have a Mutoh but most all printers will need the head rank changed after you changed heads. It's done through the printer menu (usually a service menu) and you enter the numbers that are on the new heads.
  6. lexan Circle

It would have been easier to mount the image to a peice and then cut the circle out with a band saw and then sand the rest to the edge. It will be hard to match the exact 24" circle to a 24" pre cut circle and have it line up bang on. If the vinyl stretches you will be off a bit no matter what...
  7. Print Head Issue?

How are you trying to draw ink into the dampers? Through the capping station with a syringe? Can you hear an air leak or just not getting any draw?
  8. Clear decal, murky situation

If you can dig up the manual it should have something about base point or align point. On the older Roland you print the media, hit setup and remove to laminate then get the material loaded back in and try to line up the crop marks in line with the cutter head ( close as possible ) and on the...
  9. Print Head Issue?

I think thats the same print heads and capping station as I use on the Roland CJ 500. Have you made sure that first the drain line to that side of the cap station is not plugging up? Second that the clear line that runs from under the capping station (each side) over to that small rectangular...
  10. printing photos

What ink are you using? What temp are the heat settings? What rendering intent are you using for the photos? Perceptual is best for photos. Next is what Dither type was used. Try other profiles. For me using a converted CJ 500 I found that a WTBM (for solvent not eco sol) profile worked well...
  11. Epson Stylus Pro 11880 for vinyl, banners etc?

What are you finding you need the heat plates set at for the latex inks? Also what is the price of their ink compared to solvent?
  12. Microsoft Publisher file

You are right.... you can copy and past direct into flexi..... I thought I was sure I had already tried that. You can still edit the text as well as edit the graphics.
  13. Microsoft Publisher file

I did not open the file or import the file. What I did was I had the publisher file open and either copy and past into Illustrator or click on the file from publisher and drag into illustrator.
  14. Microsoft Publisher file

Not sure if this will be good enough but I drug a publisher file into Illustrator and then exported as an Interchange dxf file (autoCAD) and then opened in flexi. It did still let you edit text but all the graphic stuff was no good. If you saved any other way you could pull the graphics in ok...
  15. How do I space little squares around an oval in corel CS4 or 12?

Also in Illustrator you can use the blend feature where you can make a shape and have it follow a path and set to a number of how many you want. It's under "Options" then Blend. You can set it as a qty or a measurement. There is a lot more to it but might be another option. This way you...
  16. window vinyl

Welcome to the forum.... You can use some clear film and reverse print the image so it's mirrored as its being printed and then stick to the inside of the window. If you can't print white then the color will be duller and white areas of the image will be clear. You can always back it with...
  17. Too cheap to buy media catcher

Looks good but if you would have went $8 further you could have built a take up reel.
  18. Mimaki Get Off your A--.

Good idea... I'm looking at "special color technology" in China for some parts to have on hand.
  19. losing color on cj500

I think you have converted to solvent.... correct? You might have a blockage in the drain lines. Make sure the drain lines are not plugged. Remove the two lines from the capping station that go to the pump and force some cleaning fluid through and into the drain bottle. Watch for ink to...
  20. Printing past the edge?

What does your setup width come in at with tape on the edges of the 24" media? As long as it reads 25" or more, you should be fine to get it to print edge to edge. If it's anything like the Rolands you can move the head to the start point and hit base point and it will start printing on that...
