  1. What can't you live without?

I'm curious to know what everyone's favorite "thing" is... I mean what piece of equipment, hardware, software, tool, trick etc is invaluable to your business? What saves you the most time and money? What makes your job easier? What thing at work could you not part with? Mine is our Rolls Roller...
  2. what do you think of this method to cut aluminum composite

    A de-burring tool. Here.
  3. exporting files as ai vs eps

That's helpful only if Raster/Vector doesn't matter. .eps or .ai files are vector formats. You can't use a raster .tiff file in a CNC router or vinyl cutter...
  4. What is the goofiest thing a customer has said to/requested of you?

It's always a good day when a customer 'gets it'. Or at least accepts that even if it doesn't make sense to them, it doesn't mean it's not right.
  5. What is the goofiest thing a customer has said to/requested of you?

Def one of the best uses for it that I've seen. Nice bike :)
  6. What is the goofiest thing a customer has said to/requested of you?

I once made a couple of boat decals for a lady who asked for a few font options. Once she chose a font she told me that she wanted it slanted forward for the right-side of the boat and slanted backward for the left-side of the boat (so that they both slanted towards the back of the boat once...
  7. What is the goofiest thing a customer has said to/requested of you?

Then why does black reflective even exist? You wouldn't want to put it on a black vehicle either....but at least with a white vehicle you can see the letters clearly during the day. At night without direct light it'll still contrast. And if light shines on it it would not turn white and match...
  8. Vehicle Wrap Wax or No Wax

NO WAX. It will cause your adhesive to fail. You should always be cleaning the vehicle with something that removes dirt, grease, wax etc. before you wrap it anyways. No point waxing it if you're just going to have to remove it. For us there's no timeline. Usually a customer doesn't know if...
  9. Cut vinyl with air channels

Yes - what they are suggesting is similar to Oracal 751 with air release channel. i guess I mistook your last post as another question.
  10. Cut vinyl with air channels

    Yes.
  11. Using spot colours with transparency

This - in my experience - is the only way to do it. Rasterize any filtered objects or transparencies and then place your spot color objects on top. It doesn't necessarily have to be on a seperate layer but it keeps things organized. If anyone has another solution I would love to know it!
  12. Contour cuts WAY OFF !!!

Any solution is better than no solution. And if the solution doesn't cost you any money...even better! Good luck! Let us know if it works out.
  13. Contour cuts WAY OFF !!!

When you reload the print the location of the pinch rollers won't matter as long as you don't click "get media width". Obviously they still have to be outside the registration marks though in order for the machine to be able to scan the registration marks.
  14. Contour cuts WAY OFF !!!

Yep. that's what I'm saying. You can click it when you initially print the decals but after you've removed the print, laminated it and placed it back in the printer and lined up the registration marks you DO NOT click "Get media width" again. Simply change the setting from "Print" to "Cut" but...
  15. Looking for advice...

We've printed double-sided blockout banners for the driveway into the casino here and they've been up for years with no problems - aside from a bit of color fading. -40 degree winters, +40 degree summers(Celsius) and high wind speeds because the driveway cuts through a huge field. The top and...
  16. Contour cuts WAY OFF !!!

I didn't notice if this was mentioned.....When I first started print/lam/cutting this same thing was happening to me because I kept clicking "Get media width" after I reloaded my printed/laminated piece to the printer. And then, even when I knew what I was doing wrong I would still sometimes do...
  17. Fax or No Fax

We only use our fax machine to send files between our internal group of companies because it's fast. All our employees fax their time sheets to our "head office" at the end of the day and since none of our shop guys have email addresses(or computer skills) they just walk over to the fax and scan...
  18. Latest Gadget.

Iphone 5s, Playstation 4 AND Xbox One (although if I HAD to choose I'd go with Xbox for reasons). + everything on this list http://www.foxnews.com/tech/slideshow/2014/02/04/101-must-have-tech-toys/#slide=1 Most notably the 3d printers.
  19. banding question

    Photo?
  20. City logo design critique

Yeah that's what I was picturing. It definitely works as one-color. Are you supplying a full logo guide with the solid color options? I love making and getting those. It's everything you need in a neat little package.
