So if tariffs do actually deter people from buying foreign imports, and domestic production can't fill the consumer's needs quick enough, will those with cash in their pocket just spend on something else? If that's the case where will their money flow, travel, more on dining, clothes, or other short-term feel-good purchases?
Possibly countries like the US and Canada are headed toward the European model where more and more rent instead of buying. Leading to a scaled down (more minimalist) lifestyle as they may not have the control over housing and other expenses as they would have if they could afford to buy and payoff a home.
Will there be a greater shift toward smaller, short-term and/or experiential purchases which may add to further declines in domestic manufacturing.

Now that is a really good question.
Yes, that would happen and it is the initial pain point with tariffs until domestic manufacturing has time to stabilize and scale. There are growing pains with any kind of change and tariffs are no different.
We could continue on the same path we've been on and see the same results (high inflation, dependency on imports, price swings, supply chain shortages, less control over prices). Or, we can do what has worked in the past (building up our own manufacturing base) and what should have been what we stuck with in the first place and is proven to work amazingly. Other advanced economies like Germany and Japan have strong domestic production. In the long run we will see greater stability, more good paying jobs, and the security from any global price swings or outages.
I'm surprised anybody is celebrating free speech getting flushed down the drain.
I'm not a fan of him, but he didn't even say anything bad and they still used it to push him out.
The government didn't fire him. This was a business decision by his network based on ethics and economics. His show had low ratings and was losing money.
The real issue is celebrating someone's assassination and seeing nothing wrong with that behavior. It's a matter of basic morality and treating others the way you'd want to be treated.
There's an important distinction here: words are not the same as violence, but celebrating actual violence crosses a clear ethical line.

His death actually affected people in my town and county. Many of the local shows of radio hosts and guests who take their show on the road are now drawing back. If you have some d!ickwad in the audience who doesn't agree with you on whatever topic, they could get shot or any number of consequences. People all over are becoming afraid. I totally understand. Look at this place. I consider this a very very good sign site, but now that the NHB and many conversations/threads which go political have severed lotsa of people here helping each other, let along all the name calling and p!ssy attitudes have come about..... it's about time we start reuniting and leave our baggage off the keyboard.

We need to bring back common decency. The reason why so many conservatives are speaking out against the nonsensical is because the most reasonable guy who invited conversation about important topics was shot because he was right. You will also notice that there is a huge difference between the two (one uses logic and the other uses emotions).

Many conservatives are now speaking out against what they see as irrational ideas because a reasonable leader who encouraged open dialogue on critical issues was assassinated for his views. There's a fundamental difference in approach: one side relies on logical reasoning while the other appeals primarily to emotion.

late night talk shows are supposed to be fun and funny and meant for people to relax after a long hard day at work. They aren't meant to stir the political pot.
There's been this "us" vs "them" mentality since Trump entered the political spectrum.
It's frustrating to me that we aren't allowed to bring up anything negative about the "trans movement". Yet people want to scream that free speech is dead? I haven't been able to say what I have really thought about the trans movement without being censored (or completely kicked off of platforms). Because people think I'm a "transphobe". There's no phobia to thinking that trans people need mental health help. But as soon as people hear that, they go nuts thinking I'm somehow disrespecting a trans person.
Now, the left is up in arms because they're being stifled about divisive comments toward charlie kirks assassination....welcome to putting the shoe on the other foot.

If we look at history we can clearly see society going further and further left making the center common sense people look like they are far right. Originally the gays "Just wanted to get married" now here in 2025 we are at "shut up or we will kill you".

I'm going to go off on a short limb here and say that the percentage is most likely more than that. To add gasoline to that fire we are having society say it is perfectly normal to think that when you are born a certain sex that you can be the exact opposite.
Sadly this isn't the only backward stuff that people with common sense/critical thinking/normality have to deal with these days.
