Which Aslan product are you using for this? We usually just reverse print on 3651 clear then back w/ 651 white but with lighter backgrounds it definitely doesn't block out the light 100%. Thanks!

I think it's the lack of effort that is most surprising. If you actually have those materials and are trying to cut them, just measure them with a micrometer as mentioned. It's a great tool to have around the shop. All the materials that you listed probably total 100 different possible...

What kind of Roland do you think you're going to be cutting all those materials on?

We've been replacing 3M 8518 w/ Arlon 3220 Gloss, and much prefer the Arlon product's finish and price point. Unfortunately (for Arlon I guess) 3M 8418 comes in even cheaper than 3220 so we're considering moving to that now.

I feel like this is 3M's MO. We're not printing anywhere near that scale but we've run into issues with their "premium" products for years. Mostly with 8519 and 8518 laminates. Depending on the rep, they would either flat out deny that they've had any other complaints/issues or nonchalantly...

Some of the points you make, I believe, will apply across the board with roll to roll UV printers. We have Mimaki's version of this printer (UCJV), and have also found blacks to be dull and that there are challenges when it comes to cutting due to thicker UV ink, as well as masking printed...

Not sure I agree with this approach, but to each their own I guess. I understand the concept of law of averages but most of the time customers have no idea how to provide usable print files, which means that most customer supplied "art" needs to be set up or redrawn. Not charging for this time...

Unless they've added a new archive feature, I believe you'd have to save all the .rvw files in your old queue/computer, then load them all in on the new computer.
