  1. let's pretend...

I think that is the Canadian BMW logo there, due to the square tires used in Canada.
  2. New Machine Purchase coming soon, but which one?

We are going to have to add another machine to our production department here due to our increasing workload. We currently run two aging Mimaki JV3s with a million miles on each (but they still run all day every day) and have plenty of plotters so we don't need a print/cut solution. We were...
  3. Best place to find used Printers?

Craigslist always has some listed. Do the nationwide search at http://www.searchcraigslist.org/ for more than what is local for more results.
  4. Pricing a Half Wrap

you're coming in high, a full wrap would run only slightly more for a ford van. your print provider may be charging you more than the average also.
  5. font help please

    don't recognize this one...
  6. HELP! Prints cancelling

Add another hub (only between the two of them) if the run is too long between the rip & printer. Keep everything else off of this hub.
  7. Which one is the best

  8. Interior Sign HELP!

Looks like a regular (gloss laminated) print applied to a piece of sintra, and wrapped around the edges like a gallery/canvas wrap.
  9. Time to replace the print head?

I'm no Mutoh expert, but to me it still sounds like a bad capping station. A capping station should only run a couple hundred, and is something you have to replace every so often anyways.
  10. Is an old JV3 still a useable machine in a modern sign shop

Do you have a link on how to configure it like this?
  11. Why we cant have nice things in our area.....

I think it is all about the funds at each individual school district. Most districts around here have ZERO extra to do nice things. But then again, we do work for one school district that must have either struck gold or oil when building their new "campus" as we've done probably 50k+ in signage...
  12. Opaque Foils....

I am not understanding your question. Most Gerber foils are opaque, unless noted otherwise as transparent. Some have varying levels of opacity so sometimes you have to apply a flood coat under them to achieve the correct color if printing on a colored vinyl.
  13. Is an old JV3 still a useable machine in a modern sign shop

I assume this is the 6-color JV3-SP. I have one of those at home. The JV3s here at the office have 4 heads and run CMYKx2.
  14. Is an old JV3 still a useable machine in a modern sign shop

We have two JV3s here. They both run all day & night every day and make us a great amount of money. They are a bit slower than the modern machines, but they JUST RUN. As long as you clean them weekly they seem to run forever, ours must have millions of miles on them as they've been here for 12...
  15. Photoshop text actual size work path and transform box size issues.

Can't you just place the template into photoshop? (one side/view at a time) Your post has me confused...
  16. Wrapping ATV's & Snowmobiles Need Your Opinions

Wrap it with something like convex (or cheaper aggressive material), then wrap over it with the mossy oak camo vinyl.
  17. Best Efficiency Improving Tips for your Sign Shop

Looked into it and everything else out there. it wasn't cheap, but nothing else seemed to fit perfectly or work with how things work here. There is a LOT to the software, everything in the whole process is included. It wasn't all implemented at the same time; but grew/changed organically a lot...
  18. Roland SP-540 "Now Heating..." never shuts off

What temperature is the heater set to? We used to have a problem with our Mimaki here where the heater was actually set too low. The heater temp was set to below the ambient room temp, so the heater couldn't "cool" and the printer would await the impossible proper temperature to begin printing.
  19. brush style script ID

It looks like it's not a font, but if you can search by similarity, then Rapier and Sarah Script are kind of close.
  20. Best Efficiency Improving Tips for your Sign Shop

We crossed the threshold of TOO MANY orders to keep a paper schedule. We had to have custom software made to fit our workflow here, it cost around $15,000 but has saved a lot more than that obviously. We have an online visual schedule with drag & drop capabilities. Everything about the job is...
