  1. Head question

Not sure what that machine has. Google them, they look completely different you should be able to tell from pics.
  2. Changing ink question

UPDATE: Just in case anyone was wondering I flushed out the lines with Roland ink cleaning cartridges (I would pull several syringes through, let it sit for a day or two then pull more until I was pulling clear solution out. Very time consuming.) Installed all my new parts which was just about...
  3. Solaris Inks Anyone?

I don't know anything about Solaris, but we use Inktec and I think the determining factor when deciding if you should go with aftermarket ink should be how often you printer(s) get used. We run our printers (16 of them now, soon to be 18) 24/5 all year and 24/6 during the busy season so we save...
  4. CJ-500 print issue..

We've had a similar issue with one of our xj-540 for months now. Ours starts banding after a while on the magenta head like its an ink starvation issue. I've replaced the head, head board, dampers, and all cables associated with that head. I've also cleaned the ink lines, I even took the needle...

Did you try cleaning your encoder sensor?
  9. TECH FOR ROLAND sp300

Clean all your capping stations then run a cleaning. You most likely aren't getting a good seal to the print head so when you do a cleaning the pumps are only sucking air. You can check this by putting a syringe on the bottom of the damper hose. If you pull air your not getting a good seal.
  10. Magenta misprint.

I have an issue where the magenta head is not printing in the correct location some of the time on our xc-540. I have already cleaned the encoder strip and sensor but it hasn't helped. i have attached pictures let me know what you guys think. It's happening on multiple jobs that print fine on...
  11. Test Print means what?

Epson DX4 is the head that's on the xc-540.
  12. Test Print means what?

This is directly out of my xc-540 manual: 1 Foreign substances - Manual Cleaning - User's Manual - When foreign substances such as fiber dust are stuck on the surface of the Head, Ink sometimes leaks from it. Wipe the surface of Head with a cleaning stick. We've wiped several heads off and...
  13. Roland SC 540 printing crazy

Did you ever try changing the long ribbon cable from the head board to the carriage board?
  14. Tips for getting back print nozzles - SP540v

We have xc-540s but I can say a syringe is your best friend when trying to recover nozzles. Whenever I have missing nozzles first thing I do is put a syringe on the capping station of that head and the other head that's on the same pump to see if there is a good seal. If there isn't a good seal...
  15. Roland SC 540 printing crazy

If you are talking about the one that shows the cyan head constantly firing on several test prints and the black on one then yes I did. Like I said we had the exact same thing happen on 2 different machines. One time it was a bad head, the other a bad head board. You've eliminated the head since...
  16. Roland SC 540 printing crazy

Since you only have the problem for part of the print, I would replace the cables from the carriage board to the head board. It seems if it were a board issue you would always have the problem, not just in certain locations. Those cables get bent every time the printer makes a pass so think...
  17. Roland SC 540 printing crazy

When you say you replaced the cables did you replace the long cables going from head board to the carriage board? That would be my first guess since it only does it at a certain point. If you replace that and the problem doesn't go away it is most likely the head board itself. Inspect the board...
  18. Becoming a Roland Tech...

I am a technician at a personalization company and I do all the repairs on our Rolands myself. I've had no training on Rolands, but I do have an associate degree in electrical technology and worked at a plastic container factory for 4 years before I got my current job about a year ago. That...
  19. Encoder strip supplier?

We started cleaning ours with acetone and it works great! Never had any issues with it damaging them.
  20. Magenta banding

Sorry it took so long to respond, I got swamped. It is a print head issue. We took the print head off and flushed it with ink cleaner and it is running good... for now. Usually when we've had bad print heads the test print(s) have issues as well but not this time which is why I wasn't sure it...
