  1. Printer to make helmet decals

niiiice. ya $22k is definitely a better option :) I'd be all over that 800W if I didn't just buy a brand new 365 last summer. still lacks metallics, but who cares really if you can simply use a metallic base vinyl when needed.
  2. Printer to make helmet decals

HP white ink comes via their R-series hybrid printers..... $100k is a bit steep and quite a large footprint in your shop for helmet decals. I heard that they'll have white options soon available for their waterfall-style printers, but I'm just making recommendations based on the OP. ps. LOVE my...
  3. Printer to make helmet decals

if you have ability to print white, when no major need to dwell on "chrome capability" as you can just use chrome media and print white&colors onto it. huge fan of HP latex, but they're lacking in the white/metallics realm at the moment..... I'd be looking at a mimaki CJV300+ with...
  4. DX4 Printhead

shoutout to solventinkjet, always been good to me.
  5. Looking to buy printer, 54”

no personal experience with the brand, but I see a lot more "help me" threads related to rolands than any other brands. ...could also just be due to their popularity, so I'm not gonna knock the brand based on randomly poor reviews, but I've always been a fan of mimaki in whatever realm that...
  6. How to properly align graphics on a car?

body lines aren't level they're square and should be followed
  7. High end artwork on Wood or Aluminum

+1 to suggestion above. direct print with a flatbed UV printer is the only way to go here. Unless you just print your decal with a faux-woodgrain or print onto a vinyl with a metallic finish/grain to fake it....but its never as good as the real thing.
  8. Printing a white box behind contour marks possible?

in a pinch, my workaround for registering cutter marks on colored stock vinyl is to put a piece of white/offwhite/yellow masking tape over it and trace the marks on top of it with a black/blue solvent pen. if it refuses to scan to the next mark, then connect the tabs you applied with a stretch...
  9. Opportunity for new business...need advice please

stay away from used printers, if possible. nothing but threads of headaches on this forum. then again, same can be said about posts regarding the car racing graphics market. lol. stand your ground, set your timeline, & charge your rate. rush job demands will be common, & sponsorships for...
  10. Question liner to wrap and add logo to "air pots"

i've done a few of these for local gas stations & coffee shops. pick your poison vinyl, but since these are usually applied by the customer then I opt for air-egress/controltac/etc. Doesn't especially need to be cast, if you're looking for a better price-point ...as the graphic can wrap-around...
  11. Huge Mistake, vinyl on paint

the devil is in the details.... stain resistance is resistance to adhesion. try vinyl designed for LSE plastics, like arlon 8000 or 3M IJ39 (edited to add some mad-scientistry: i've also made surfaces for receptive to adhesion via corona-treatment of the surface prior to application)
  12. How to properly align graphics on a car?

just tell your client that the graphics are only "crooked" because they have too much air in their rear tires.
  13. Decorative Film & UV Tint install issues

the alcohol in your solution is causing your wet application to grab prematurely. no reason for it to be in there, unless you want something AGGRESSIVE. just soap & water & good application technique.
  14. ROLL-X or CWT questions

yes, you use these tables as your regular graphics table when not utilizing the roller feature. as for cutting/usage, we use our table a LOT. Heavy box-knife cuts of coroplast will take its toll, but regular xacto trimming of graphics barely make a dent in the surface. haven't replaced my...
  15. Onyx Ink Limits

bad stock, or bad comms, or bad heads. ink limits are more of a quantity rather than a quality-thing.
  16. Insane installation

speaking a second language is the BEST, when people assume you dont know it. autotranslate & voice apps will make it all a breeze soon enough, and then amazon/google will have fullfilled yet another step in its master plan.
  17. Insane installation

we've mounted channel letters atop a flexface cabinet before.... the secret's in the sauce, but they're definitely not just "hung on the banner".
  18. ROLL-X or CWT questions

can you still wrap a car with a flat tire?
  19. Cleaning fluid question.

ummm. I'm no rocket surgeon, buuut
  20. Need Help Bi-Directional issues

i think the hardest part is realizing the line doesn't move in your print adjustments... you just select the proper value and off you go. ....and I know this, because well, I did it too. Kept "chasing the line" and my values became so extreme that you would have though i attached a tattoo gun...
