you pick your battles, but nuts & bolts add up... not trying to swap out bargain-bin crap vinyl here, or coro vs acrylic, but $5 vs $8/roll becomes hundreds/thousands to pad a departmental wishlist.

Menard's green painter's tape is cheaper and performs just as well. 2" rolls at $5 vs. $8 for 3M blue. amazon has a house-brand of blue tape at <$5ea, haven't tried it though.

white ink settles & you may have longterm issues with your lines & printhead getting gummed up. If you do make it work, you'll have to develop a process of stirring your ink supply regularly & also flushing out the entire channel when you don't expect to run white for more than a few days.
