  1. LOOKING FOR COLLABORATION OPPORTUNITIES WITH FULL-COLOR 3D PRINTING.

i was at the mimaki demo center in NJ a couple weeks ago looking at a solvent printer but they had a bunch of samples from there 3d printer (which they don't have there yet but it's coming) puts out some crazy stuff with color printing. not sure which model the samples came from but they were...

good job and totally agree about facebook, actually social media in general is great if used for good and not evil..haha. i post almost all my jobs on social media, like you said it's free advertising and i have gotten quite a few new jobs because of that.
  3. Window film recommendation

i use mactac B-Free frost/etch material it's air release and dry install. use it all the time with no issues. if you get small wrinkles you can usually get them out with a little heat from the torch
  4. Metal Gemini letters on siding - peaks or valleys?

the only thing i would be concerned about is your studs are long enough on the peaks to get enough stud in to the plywood so it holds properly
  5. Sign Install...

I WOULD JUST EXPLAIN THE SITUATION TO THEM ABOUT THE COLD TEMP AND INSTALLING VINYL. I FIGURE THEY HAVE TWO OPTIONS, 1 GO WITH THE VINYL AND TAKE THE RISK OR 2 MAKE A BANNER YOU CAN FASTEN TO THE EXISTING SIGN UNTIL IT'S WARM ENOUGH TO INSTALL THE VINYL. I WOULD THINK YOU COULD JUST SCREW IN TO...
  6. Need Help Installing indoor signs from suspended ceilings?

  7. Sign Install...

the cold can be an issue for sure but in my experience it's generally been more of an issue with the poor circulation in my hands than with the vinyl. you always want to try and install in warmer conditions but i have had a few situations where i had to install below 30 degrees. definitely not...
  8. Sign Install...

yeah i wouldn't worry about the cold too much. i have found as long as you get it to stick it will be ok. i have installed truck lettering in 27 degrees with snow on the truck. sucked more for my hands but the vinyl was ok. like already mentioned just go slow and be cautious because it does rip...
  9. Vinyl awning with seam in the way

no different if you go to letter a truck and it has dents or rust, would you install lettering over dents and rust. (and it has happened) if you do it as is make sure you get in writing that you aren't warranting the work and will not be responsible for any warranty the original awning place...
  10. Vinyl awning with seam in the way

awnings aren't in our wheel house but i was going to say what gino said just from an observation point of view, that green awning is tight. the more slack you have the more issues you will have down the road with wind and weather ripping it apart. what i am interested to know is what/how are...

  13. Question Pad/Stud Mounts on Acrylic Letters

i find Gemini to be pretty reasonable once you consider all the time and labor involved. doesn't cost anything to get a quote and then you get the whole job complete ready to install. we have been using gemini for over 15yrs and the only issue which they have gotten better with is getting a...
  14. Vehicle Wrap Templates

i have used templates on rare occasions but like myront we like to go see the vehicle live. measure, take pics i just feel more comfortable. there are sometimes variables that don't show up on templates, mirror and logo placement, sometimes shapes of windows vary and if your customer adds...
  15. Question What kind of vinyl for heavy machinery decals and WHERE do I buy it??

we use a high tack for situations like this because the surface can be greasy or get greasy also they can have chipped paint or rough surfaces. as far as the laminate the material does hold up better with the laminate. no doubt it still gets banged up but it will last a little longer with lam...
  16. Question What kind of vinyl for heavy machinery decals and WHERE do I buy it??

is this for new machinery or used? probably want to use a high-tack vinyl and definitely use a laminate. might want to look in to a thicker lam like they recommend for helmet decals or for atv decals check with fellers
  17. How much do you pay your Graphics Guy?

i agree you give the customer what they want and i wouldn't say your pics are bad but i would say they are basic which is fine and not meant as an insult but i am not sure you need to hire a specific designer for what you are doing right now. who did the artwork for the pics you showed us? can't...
  18. Discussion Slowing down or staying busy?

put me down for a few cans of spam, haven't had that in years. great when fried up with some syrup
