I don't think the humidity has anything to do with it.... I just got a roll of poli tape and it is horrible! Tunnels, lifting and generally just doesn't make the grade.
POLI TAPE IS GARBAGE
For larger sizes you need to add tons more registration marks... (Been there done that with signs365). I usually have them on all margins every 4 inches or so on files larger than 2x2 feet
What works for me is this:
During my daily driving - to work, the grocery store etc, I look for old run-down or homemade signs of current businesses in my area (or better yet) businesses with NO sign at all. Later, I visit these businesses (if they are open to the public) and browse to get an...
Not sure if this is the appropriate thread, but I have a customer who needs a wall mural printed. He wants the least expensive option as his budget is "under $250"
Basically he wants it printed on basic paper that he can glue to a wall himself. I don't print in-house and all my vendors only...
I am quoting a job for a client who retrofits vehicles for fire departments and police departments. They would like me to complete the lettering and markings on a few new fire trucks and was surprised to find that the engine turn gold pattern is nearly impossible to find anymore.
Currently...
Yeah. Initial warranty expired September last year. Extended warranty allegedly doesn't cover the controller.
I was hoping it was just a matter of reprogramming the controller, but nope... the logic board in the controller is shot.
I did, however, talk to a tech at Optec who was quite...
I have a customer who's giant LED sign stopped working and it appears to be the Optec controller causing the problem.
My question is this: Do I HAVE to replace it with an Optec controller or can I install a different manufacturer's controller and program it to suit the customer's needs?
Any...
the problem is most likely related to out-gassing. Print them and wait a day before trying to cut them.
If waiting a day to cut them doesn't correct the edge-curl, check your profiles. Use of incorrect profiles can cause over-saturation. The excessive ink overloads the face film resulting in...
I have a friend who runs a non-profit looking and is looking for a wrap for their new shuttle van and I'd like to refer him to a signs101 member. He has a rough idea of the design concept and is looking for a good price and place to get it done. He is located in the New Jersey area but will...
If this MUST be printed, you need to do a double-layer print to keep the color from washing out at night when the sign is lit up. As others have said, this particular sign could have easily been done in cut vinyl using red translucent vinyl.
b2sign.com does them and they are quite good. I have never had a problem from them. My only complaint is the turn-around time is a bit long between production and shipping from California to North Carolina... and even THAT isn't all that bad. I usually have my order within 7 days so I really...
This is an old thread, but I played with it anyway. Got rid of the arrow idea (too cliche IMO). Simplified and staggered the text a bit and added an extractor. To most US Military types, the extractor is almost instantly identifiable and easily identifies this logo as dealing with tactical...
Yep, looks like Aurora but if it doesn't have to be EXACT, you could probably design something similar in under an hour.
I made this in about 5 minutes.
When I get burned out, my wife takes over for a day or two. We are a tiny shop (just her and I) and she is amazing at the tedious stuff like weeding, organizing and all the stuff that gets me bogged down.
Normally she handles the operations side of things (scheduling, ordering supplies...
Adding more insight to this reply:
It is not only Inkscape that causes the issue - many programs have the option of saving as either "compressed svg" or plain svg. I will often times have issues with the compressed svg files being all jacked up when I import them into my cutting software...
I don't think you have any idea how business leasing works. lease DOES NOT equal "rent".
Renting (like renting an apartment or house or trailer for example) means you pay for the opportunity to use the property and there is no expectation of ownership of the property. Nobody rents an...
I've got an old version of Photoshop (6.0 I think) that has Alien Skin Eye Candy and I used to play with the effects all the time. You can do this effect by copying a design layer and playing with the Bevel settings in Eye Candy.
Here's a 30 second render using Eye Candy ripple, then bevel...
