  1. Arial

When I first started in the sign business I was told, don't worry about using any other fonts. Arial is the only one you'll need. This may be wrong but it's kind of funny...
  2. Right/Wrong Ethical/Unethical

    Right!?
  3. Right/Wrong Ethical/Unethical

I received a government job, a set of window perf print and installs for the Air Force. Required materials are a specific 3M 60/40 perf and 3M laminate. I've already priced it for these products however, I was told the 60/40 material is not in stock and probably won't be until the end of...
  4. Liquid Laminate Over Spray Paint?

We do a lot of graphics for these types of boards. I'm guessing they are cornhole, correct? We keep a General formulations high tack material in stock and use it for the boards. We print/cut the graphic and it sticks well to just about anything, then we let our customer deal with coating it. We...
  5. new question

We use Avery 2105 with 1360 lam. High end graphtec cutter. Like said above, if it's smaller stuff like 1/2 inch tall letters it will always be a pain. Humidity plays a factor as well.
  6. Passwords

I watched a documentary somewhere about Benford's Law and how our IRS uses it to deal with tax fraud and a European country that uses is it for it's citizens ID's, bank accounts, and other identification. They apparently do not have to worry about someone stealing their identities or anything...
  7. Passwords

Passwords....there has to be a better way at this point. Trying to remember them, forgetting them, forgetting to make note of them, incorrectly entered, they have to be uppercase/lowercase/special characters, not long enough, too easy. I've used dashlane for a bit but logs you out constantly and...
  8. Getting paid from customer using bank ACH method

ACH is the way all payments should be processed until the next best thing comes along. Less of a Pain in the A** for you and your customer than dealing with checks, and no or probably less fees than the credit card companies.
  9. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

This is good to know and I'll mention the risk. Thanks
  10. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

Largest and most of the faces are 84" x 84", they are backlit, I will not be painting them they will be provided by a professional manufacturer who specializes in these faces. I've asked their opinion as well but wanted to get all of your opinions as well. This customer does a lot of business...
  11. How do you guys keep track of orders/jobs currently in your shop?

We had a custom workflow app built for us from a freelance programmer on upwork. It's a lot like trello and clickup which were good but more than what we needed. Even some of the sign/printing workflow software and apps seem to be way over complex, at least for a smaller sign/printing company. I...
  12. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

So to avoid yellowing and to have the best quality and durability which would you recommend for replacement faces, Modified acrylic or clear painted polycarbonate? Cost is not an issue in this case.
  13. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

Is it as strong/flexible as polycarbonate? I thought acrylic is prone to cracking and breaking easier.
  14. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

    I'll check this out. Thanks!
  15. Polycarbonate "yellowing"

Besides fully covering a polycarbonate sign face with a vinyl graphic, is there a way to combat the yellowing of the face from the sun? Not sure if there are laminates (liquid or non) or any other methods that can be used. Thanks
  16. Question When to laminate?

Our business may be different from yours but we laminate everything. I don't care where it's going or how long our customer expects it to last. We also use a cast gloss laminate for almost everything and we charge for it. I'd rather see my products looking great for years no matter where they...
  17. Flex Face Retro fit tips

Our current sign code has a very small sq ft per side requirement and the sign cannot exceed 10 tall total. Apparently the structure is "grandfathered in" at this size and they want to get the most out of it. Don't think they'll want to cut it off. I told them that they are going to want to...
  18. Flex Face Retro fit tips

We have a customer who is looking to re-face this existing frame. It's about 230" tall x 144" wide odd shape. This was a "Big Boy" restaurant sign back in the day with polycarbonate faces. Checked pricing and availability for flex face tracking, trim and tension clips and wouldn't receive...
  19. What is your quoting procedure?

The app runs through google app sheet but you can find someone who uses filemaker or another program. This guy used google app sheet and that's what I was using to try to set up my app. I guess it was upwork that I stubbled upon and was really impressed by. Then I outlined what I was hoping to...
  20. What is your quoting procedure?

I've used EstiMate Sign Software for years and it's hard to break away from it when you're so used to it, however, it's a separate program from our work flow programs we have used (trello/clickup) and I have been trying to tie everything together so my entire crew of 4 can estimate jobs through...
