Does your regular nozzle check look OK? What if you send a print? Does the yellow print? If so, is it out of alignment? If I remember correctly the alignment patterns are for different resolutions/parameter. Not sure why one setting would print and another wouldn't if all nozzles are firing.

Unless you have a pencil point needle ($$$), you'll eventually core the rubber and ink will leak all over your printer. Get the refill carts. 123 easy.

Turn off main power (I always unplug) and make 100% sure the ribbon cables going to the K head are clean, not scorched, and snug in the sockets. You can always swap the ribbons on top of the heads too and see if the problem follows the cable or the head. Of course the colors will print in the...

Setting up refurbished unit. Getting this error. Ink tanks have cleaning fluid in them. Waste tank is empty, floats for ink/waste levels appear to be functional. Ideas? The user manual doesn't have error code info.

It sounds like the internal membrane that separates the channels has busted.

Is it when the carriage is moving or when cleaning? Could be the axis motor/bearings if when the carriage is moving. Pretty common and easy to replace. If it's when the pumps are running it could be the gears slipping. If it happens again try to video it.

OK, it now does sound like it's the ink channel somewhere from the needle that punctures the septum down to the damper. My guess is there's a clog/kink or leak somewhere in the line. Could be a bad fitting, etc.

We've run a 3rd party ink in that machine with no trouble and no change to temps/voltages. We've run the same ink in the same heads on an OCE, EFI, and others and had to change the temps, so I agree, those heads can be finicky.

What if you swap ink lines going to the heads just to see if the drop out follows the ink lines or the head? I'm not familiar with that exact model, but that will show you which way to go.
