  1. Ink Fish Eye

Media contamination. Dust, dirt, oils, water mist. Or the media itself. Dust and dirt will often have a dark center - the solvent collects around particles Oils, water and media often have light centers where adsorption and absorption are inhibited.
  2. Mutoh stops printing

Be sure and remember that your printer has a static IP address, everything else in your system probably is dynamic DCHP. If and when you shut everything off and turn it back on, turn your printer on first, otherwise something else my take that IP address and give you conflict.
  3. Longterm Storage

We recommend clean and flush for anything over 2 weeks.
  4. Mutoh stops printing

Corrupt or interrupted data. check your network.
  5. Headwash issue

There may still me some color in the line, but that is the message you should get when it is flushed. You should be good to go.
  6. VJ-1604 won't hold PF adjustment

That's correct to set the PF, but everytime you go back to Initial Print, you are starting over from scratch, so yes, everytime it goes back to its starting point, not the last calibration you did. If you want to check it after a print then JUST do Confirm Print. If it is changing at that...
  7. VJ-1604 won't hold PF adjustment

How are you checking this? It should be the verify menu. If you go back to the PF Adjust it reverts back everytime. This is a real calibration of the encoder, so everytime you start from scratch. The takeup will have a little affect, but that should be minor and not what you are...
  8. No Valid EPOS reference found

Great, You should find that you really only need enough on the sides for the rollers and about half an inch. About 4 inches on the front, but it needs to be fairly straight. About 4 on the back. If you ever cut it too short just tape an extender on to it.
  9. Pinch rollers Turning Blue???

Could be air currents, static or indications of a failing head. Some 'misting' is normal. Clean with alcohol.

  11. No Valid EPOS reference found

too much media on the front end may give the error as well, somewhere between 4-6 in on the front should do it. Make sure that your media size in the RIP is equal to the media size in the cutter in the RIP. You say you are prepping the file in DX but printing in Onyx and cutting in...
  12. No Valid EPOS reference found

Most commom cause is not leaving enough white space outside the box. Credit card length (approx 4in) top and bottom (so that it can read the back and front sensors and still cut the top and bottom of the box) Credit card width left and right. (this is less critical) but is to give it enough...
  13. System 32 Virus anyone?

We have a system here with the same issue. Perhaps this is a new variant, no corrupt host file, and nothing that shows up in the registry (at least that we can find). TDDSkiller finds a rootkit and the system speeds back up immediately, but the google redirect is still an issue, after a few...
  14. plotter ultima 1400 D

Ok, WHY can't you cut? Are you getting any errors on the cutter display? What happens when you try and cut? What kind of registration marks are you using? You can find Ultima information and manuals here: http://service.mutoh.com/#/Printer%20Information_Manuals/Ultima%20Cutters/...

  16. micro feed uneven on VJ-1604

Columbus Day? We are open today, Short term you should probably average these out. Load your media in the center. And check your media loading, by placing a piece of tape on the heater part way under the media. Draw a mark on it and feed about 6 ft of media out, it should stay on the...
  17. Falcon Jr no black inck!

Sounds as if there is no need to do a head soak. I dont remember for sure, but I dont think you can do a cable swap on a Jr. If you are getting NO nozzles, it certainly could be the head, but I think it is pretty unusual for the head to die like that, not that it didnt, it just doesnt...
  18. Falcon Jr no black inck!

Isopropyl alcohol will work, it is much slower than the cleaning solution from one of the cleaning carts. The biggest drawback is that alcohol evaporates quickly, so you have to watch it to make sure the cloth stays wet. 07-22-2010, 11:57 AM ahollow Premium Subscriber Join Date...
  19. Falcon Jr no black inck!

    Check for fuse first.
  20. Printing media 101

It doesnt seem that this really got answered. The answer is simple physics. Matte finishes have more surface area. In aqueous digital printing dot gain control and ink adsorption and absortion is controlled by a special coating. (which adds to the cost of the media) In solvent...
